The actual definition of American is relating to, or characteristic of the United States or its inhabitants. Being proud of who you are and the place you live. Americans have defined themselves not by their racial, religious, and ethnic identity but by their common values and belief in individual freedom. An American says the Pledge of Allegiance and understands that voting is important to Democracy, individually Americans value freedom and are proud citizens, and the freedom of human right.
In the article Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty by Senator John McCain “He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was for us to be able to pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.” Being an american mean having the right to stand for what you believe and having the chance to say the Pledge of allegiance. He didn 't do this powerful action in result of pleasing another soul but he did this in the appeasement of his own actions. He knows how important it to pledge your loyalty toward your beliefs.

Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere.” The main reason people come to the Unites States is because they want an overall better life and want to full-fill their niche in life.
