I am interested in becoming a veterinarian because I would like to work with animals. This choice of becoming a veterinarian developed when I was 12. It all started when I cured my pet. In order to become a Veterinarian you must have a Bachelor 's degree at a four year college before moving into veterinarian medicine school. The educational path to become a veterinarian would be graduating high school then attending college and into medicine school.
Management of Care Case Study Josepha is working on a medical surgical unit with three other RNs and one LPN. There is also a male and a female patient care tech. Josepha has been a nurse for four months, and after completing two months of orientation she takes a full assignment as a registered nurse. Josepha feels that the assignments she receives are not always fair, as she tends to get the most challenging clients. In addition, she is most frequently assigned any change of shift admissions.
After certification, they must do 3-8 years of residency/internship in a hospital and work with actual surgeons to decide which specialty to take on (Study.com). Like most jobs, surgeons work in a particular place, this place is a hospital. Some are private and others are public. They work lengthy hours; more than 24 hours straight. There are on-call rooms where they get to sleep when they have a chance, which isn’t very often.
The first woman to be a United States veterinarian is Dorothy Segal. She is one out of fifty-five women who stayed in college to be a veterinarian, even though her dean of students told her and the other female students to go back to the kitchen. Dorothy Segal changed the history of the veterinary field forever. Through her efforts to change the veterinary society in college and in the work field, Dorothy Segal showed that men are not the only ones that belong in the veterinary field. In the 1930’s, a woman by the name of Dorothy Segal was just going into college at Michigan State University to be a veterinarian.

Although I am only halfway through my internship program, looking back at the past 8 weeks, I feel I have already accomplished and learned so much, and continue to do so every day. Since the first day of my internship, I have been working very closely with the veterinary nurses and veterinarians of SingVet (Singapore Veterinary Animal Clinic) to familiarize myself with the procedures as followed by the clinic, as well as the clinic’s functioning and culture. Having taken on the role of a veterinary nurse which involves the combination of elements of many disciplines such as nursing, laboratory work, imaging and customer service, I have not only picked up veterinary clinical related skills, but also social and communication skills. Firstly, in terms of nursing, I have learnt the fundamentals and basics of providing great patient care for most, if not all common companion animals. I now have the knowledge and am able to provide patients with the necessary care they require and am able to cater to individual patients and their different needs; ensuring that all patients are well taken care of
I took a cadaver class last year where we reviewed what we had learned from previous anatomy and physiology classes. The professor of that class is a general surgeon at St. Luke’s Hospital, and he showed us how to do certain medical procedures while we got to practice using the cadaver. We dissected the cadaver as well as learned to suture. That class was by far my favorite class I’ve taken since I’ve been in college, and it made me feel very excited for my future working in the medical
Pharmacology Self Reflections Neida Blondet Frontier Nursing University Prescribing medications to patients is a part of the advanced practice registered nurse’s (ARNP) role. As I started Advanced Pharmacology a few short eleven weeks ago, I did not realize how much more there was to that “simple” task. As I reflect on my journey through Advanced Pharmacology, I will share with you a few important facts about my journey, such as how my expectations of prescribing changed, any ah ha moments I had, what I felt to be the most significant piece of knowledge I acquired and finally what I think about Florida’s approved medication schedule for ARNPs. As I began Advanced Pharmacology, my perception of prescribing medications was that it
We interviewed Dr Edwin Lim from Tzu Chi Free Health Screening and Free Clinic (TCFC). He specialises in Family Medicine. Prior to working in TCFC, Dr Lim used to open his own private clinic before deciding to commit full time of voluntary service to the poor and needy. This interview was conducted in the same consultation room, he uses to see his patients. There were three meetings prior to the interview, mainly to conduct the initial planning; brainstorm and streamline interview questions; final preparation.
My internship took place at Gleneagles Hospital from June 8th – 12 th 2015. I helped two consultant orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Mohana and Dr. Parameshwaran, during the week whilst I observed their work. As a 16 year old high school student, I had no experience in this job sector, but I felt a sense of comfort as I commenced my internship. Their team was so polite to me from the first day that I felt as if I was one of their full-time colleagues. My expectations were to find out how to treat general injuries, to be able to understand and use new medical vocabulary that I never heard of before, and to recognize the injury that the patient had.

I interviewed holly who is a small animal veterinarian that works in Mankato, Minnesota. The clinic is a medium sized with two full time vets and two, soon to be 3, part time vets. Most of the vets have lots of field experience in a clinic with them graduating from 2010 to 1997. Holly is the most recently added Veterinarian and has been working there for two and a half years. Her schooling first started with an AA degree at a community college and then went to a 4 year with another four years in vet school.
I have served as regular volunteer of the Canton community revolving around inner city families, particularly homeless families promoting the importance of nutrition and the components of well-being and I have served as a mentor for three years teaching basic concepts of biological sciences. Much of my clinical experience was obtained through employment, observations, and hands on training which further expanded my understanding of clinical application beyond the textbook. My research experience comprised of hands-on and independent work, yielding applicable skill in critical, independent and analytical thinking. In addition, having five plus years in customer service has profit me the skill to communicate and serve the needs of customers effectively.
