Trying to decide what career or job choice you want for your future is a tough decision to make. One day you might want to become a nurse, and the next day, you will want to become a veterinary technician. This is the situation that I went through in the past year, and all I can say is that going to school to become a veterinary technician was the best decision I have ever made regarding my future. I am excited and more ambitious toward my career than I ever have been, and I’m here to tell you why becoming a veterinary technician is an amazing choice to make!
I have always loved animals and working with them, but I would like to be able to help them when they are sick or injured. Although I love almost every animal, my goal would be to become an Equine Veterinarian. I have grown up loving horses as my mom would say, "When you were little you always wanted to be around horses, and when you couldn't be you were reading about them" (Rogers,D). My interest in becoming a Veterinarian really came full circle when I was asked to care for and bandage my neighbor's horse who had wounded her leg shortly before they planned to go on vacation in Mexico. It was my first real experience caring for a horse who had a serious injury, and watching her heal and being a part of that was eye opening. That experience along with others has driven me to want to be able to do more for animals specifically horses when they are sick or injured.
My career choice of becoming a Veterinary Technician is to promote good animal health. I want to work in a career which makes me fulfilled professionally and also where there is an opportunity for advancement. This profession will give me the opportunity to provide services to the community. I understand the deep feelings that pet owners have for their pets, therefore I want to do my best to provide good medical care for their pets and help
A veterinary career isn’t a goal easily met, nor quickly met; but I know few people can say they love what they do, and the hurdles I’ll have to face are worth getting to be one of those people. Veterinarians come into work everyday, whether that be a clinic, farm, or lab, treating and diagnosing medical conditions in animals. Depending on the type of veterinarian, this can range from household pets to exotic or endangered species. This is something I’ve imagined working towards since I was able to comprehend what a career was, and I’ve only gotten more determined. However, there’s several aspects I could have not been aware of. Through research, I’ve gained a better understanding of this career and
When trying to decide on a career path, a veterinary technician is a good choice for those who enjoy working with animals. It allows people to pursue their passion and also earn a comfortable living. The job of a veterinarian technician is much like the job of a nurse to a doctor. A veterinarian technician assists veterinarians with duties such as surgery and carrying out the orders they have prescribed. There are many areas available to a veterinarian technician such as working in research laboratories, zoo research as well as in wildlife. Additionally, veterinary technicians could work in laboratories or performing x-rays (GlobalPost, 2016).
I noticed that I treated all animals with care and compassion which grew to an obsession. In elementary school kids are asked what they want to be when they grow up and most girls’ responses are either, “Princess, Barbie,” etc. My response has remained in the animal field. I figured out in my 9th grade year that being a Veterinarian Technician would be in my best interest. Day in and day out, if I ever saw a homeless animal I would beg my mother to let me keep them and love them. This career fits perfectly with my strengths by having non-stop compassion, being organized, having an amazing work ethic, and being able to handle hectic situations. I think that this career will suit my personality and my character just
Veterinary technicians should possess certain qualities that will allow them to successfully complete their degree program and excel at their future job. Strong interpersonal skills will allow the veterinary tech to smoothly handle upset and emotional animal owners. Being able to patiently educate others is also important because veterinary techs must counsel and train animal owners how to properly care for their pets. Similar to medical positions, excellent attention to detail will be needed for accurately recording data, performing diagnostic tests and administering medication to animals. Veterinary techs must feel naturally compassionate towards sick pets and worried owners, but they must be able to stay emotionally strong and make difficult decisions, such as putting an injured animal to sleep.
Honestly, I have never planned on going to college in my life. When I get out of school I have a business waiting on me. My father’s occupation is a cowboy, he works cows in all four states (Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma) and even out of the four states sometimes. I’ve been working cows with my dad since I was 4 years old. It is an occupation I am very educated in. I’ve always planned when I get out of school I am going to take over his business and never look back at college, but now I plan on attending Tarleton State and pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Vet Technology and being on the rodeo team. My interest in Vet Technology came about when I was just a little girl; I never planned on pursuing the interest though.
I will be able to bond with the pets during their time in the office and teach owners how to take care of them better. When they are in need, I will get to help animals recover or live fuller lives. Being a vet technician also means working with more than the usual everyday pets such as cats and dogs. Clinics have different clientele, but that depends on where they are located. For example, in the areas that are rural, horses and farm animals are the frequent pets that get taken care
I am interested in becoming a veterinarian because I would like to work with animals. This choice of becoming a veterinarian developed when I was 12. It all started when I cured my pet. In order to become a Veterinarian you must have a Bachelor 's degree at a four year college before moving into veterinarian medicine school.
Veterinary technician has always been one of my options but I never really thought that I could make it my career. I’ve learned that it is what I would love doing. They say that if you love your job, you never work a day in your life. That’s exactly what I want! I don’t want to have a career that I dreed going to. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not in it to pet puppies all day. For me it’s about taking care of them and
CTE helped me realize what I wanted to do in life. I was not sure if I wanted to peruse a career as a teacher or as a veterinarian, two very different career clusters. Therefore, I decided to take both of these courses to see which one I was interested in the most. CTE helped me realize that I enjoyed working with children. Therefore, CTE created a clear path for my future as a teacher. I look forward to start college as a education major” (M. Gomez, personal communication, January 21, 2016).
Since the age of four, my mind was set on becoming a veterinarian. Twelve years later, this is still the goal. Little did I know that the journey to achieve this goal was not going to be easy. When I had decided to work towards becoming a veterinarian, I had pictured myself in the future helping animals just like Dr.
The first career I am going to talk about is Vet tech. This relates to being an Equine dentist is because it deals with animals still and I can still make a difference in animals life and make sure they are comfortable. In this career you need to do things such as give animals shots, take
Yes and no because I love being outside, but I only like being outside when it is warm.
