In a study two groups of kids were asked to play violent video games more than another group. The group who had more exposure to the game was more violent than the one who did not play as much. Commiting continual acts of violence has an effect on players: “Exposure to violent video games was significantly related to higher levels of aggressive behavior” (Rosenblum 2). Aggression is often necessary to win in sports or in video games. There is undoubtedly a correlation between violent entertainment and violent behavior; these games teach aggression and how to have few weaknesses. With a lack of empathy comes a rise in aggression and less children knowing how to resolve fights appropriately. With technology ever advancing, virtual reality video games will increase in popularity allowing players to literally watch as they kill someone (1).

One way the violent video games cause depression is, “Both fictional and news programming can cause lasting emotional upset, though the themes that upset children” (Wilson). This shows that the games may upset the children and then make them feel weird emotions. And then the kids will not know how to deal with these weird emotions so then they can do so unusual things. There are a lot a video games out in the world today and about half of these games include some type of violence. Many are to blame violent video games for aggressive behavior with much evidence which are given in “Violent Video Games Promote Violence”, “Violent video games and desensitization”, “Tying Columbine to Video Games”, “Grand Theft Childhood” and “Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association”. Video games were created to create fun in the lives of kids and people of all ages who want to have fun. Though violent video games have evolved to be a big part of what video games are.
