Violent Video Games Create Violent Children? Do violent video games have a psychological affect on the children that play them? The common response, which is especially popular with parents, is that violent video games will create violent children. These children are seen as more likely to commit crimes and feel a lack of empathy for their actions.
The article “Do Video Games Kill” written by Karen Sternheimer responds to one of the most sought-after question; are video games the cause for “young killers”? (220) Sternheimer believes the influence of video games on today’s youth maybe spiraling out of control. She focuses most of the blame on the media, politicians and the Juvenile Justice System. Sternheimer suggests that there are other factors to blame for violent behavior: poverty, the neighborhood, unemployment, family violence, divorced parents and mental illness (218). While juvenile crimes have declined, and personal backgrounds effect actions, it cannot be proven that video game violence has no to little effect on America’s youth.
This person who carried out an action that was extremely intense and horrible who was known to have had experience playing these games and performing deadly actions. This causes scientists to believe that violence does not just stay in the game. Also it shows the truth that is behind these cirtain video games and the negative outcomes that come from them. Adult gamers have a similar responsibility toward their own cultivation of ideas and influences”. In this article, it shows that ownership of the game teaches everyone how to be responsible because controversy around it relates to the topic of censorship. Censorship takes responsibility because your thoughts may hurt others and things we view may harm others emotionally and physically. So as parents censor the media shown to their children, it teaches kids to be responsible with what they share and can even carry this ability when they have their own
Another piece of evidence is that research has proven, when a kid plays game for too long, their brain activity involving empathy is suppressed and it makes it hard for the gamer to feel pain for others (Drinka par. 17). All of this evidence shows that violent video games cause real world violence and have unfavorable mental outcomes on an adolescent's mind because their anger will increase and their empathy will decrease. The anger of the game can come into the adolescent's real life and can turn the kids engaging in them
Can aggressive and violent behavior be attributed to violence in video games? For most young people, playing video games either on a computer or a handy device is just a regular routine in their daily lives. By time, gaming becomes an addiction and it interferes with the person’s relation with other people or their goals in life. An innocent and kind child can suddenly become aggressive and violent, as aggressive video games tend to cause anger issues and frustration.
There has been a huge question being asked, is it unhealthy to be playing these video games? Individuals blame computer games for making kids fat, lazy and savage. However, people argue that they don 't, but research was given by students about their own gaming habits and body weight and the results have shown that physical and mental health problems depend on the student 's mental focus on a game. if the child is quite recently taking a seat for a considerable length of time, at that point they are not getting exercise like a few kids get, this might result in the child not being fit and healthy for the future. This could lead to medical issues in the future, which is stressing for the eventual fate of all great individuals on the planet.
