Based on previous discussion at section 2.2.3.2, the widely phenomenon known as viscous fingering phenomenon which proposed by previous studies [8, 9] have been used in the explanation of ceramic membrane fabricated via phase inversion technique. So far, there are two types of structure could be obtained from this technique: finger-like and sponge-like structure. In order to characterize this unique features of viscous fingering mechanism, a futher study have been investigated by Wang and Lai with applying different types of non-solvent coagulant bath during immersion precipitation [10]. In this study, the same experimental test was applied by using distilled water, ethanol and mixture of 70% NMP and 30% water. Interestingly, by adapting previous …show more content…
Interestingly, by controlling these parameters, the membrane structure could also be controlled. Many studies have been conducted in investigating the effect of different non-solvent coagulant bath in membrane fabrication via phase inversion system. Wang and Lai demonstrated that viscous fingering is responsible for the formation of finger-like voids in the phase inversion of ceramic membrane fabrication [10]. In the study, flat-sheet alumina membranes was used as a benchmark to verify the unique features of this viscous fingering phenomenon by using three different types of coagulant bath; distilled water, ethanol and mixture of NMP and water. Among these different cogulants, water is the strongest while mixture of NMP and water is the weakest. Commonly, NMP was added into water as the coagulant bath is to slow down the precipitation rate during phase inversion (consolidation process). The order of coagulant in the study from strong to weak is water > ethanol > mixture of 70% NMP and 30% water. In addition, the study revealed the finger-like structure could be obtained by membrane immersed into distilled water. Figure 2.14 shows cross sectional SEM images of PVDF of hollow fibre membrane fabricated at different concentration of ethanol added into water bath. The decreased finger-like voids structure obtained are effect from the increased of ethanol content. This is in correlation of precipitation rate decreased due to the addition of
Walking into the sweat smelling weight room, you feel a blast of cool air from the old rusty fans. Lacing up your old weightlifting shoes, you step on the wooden platform and grip the smooth bar. Your tense muscles bulge as you lift the bar overhead. Silencing the spectators as your shoes slap the platform.
C.E 1.3 First, I made exhaustive investigation of the actual significance of the work. I found that the water film thickness detection was an important means to avoid friction and abrasion and avoid the original working performance and service life. For example, in
What would you do if you didn’t have boundaries? Kids and adults around the world that don’t have boundaries can cause harm to themselves and others. There are many passages proving boundaries are important. Such as when in the text A Flick of the Finger By Marybeth Libecki when the boy in the story did not have any boundaries he accidently shot his best friend with a gun. In the passage The Outsiders by SE Hinton a boy named Johnny runs into a burning church to save children.
climbing the continuum to destructive power, the activities of an officer identify with the kind of subject. The officer ought to react proportionately to the resistance level of the subject. Also, "if an officer endeavors to pick up control of a subject at a relative level of resistance, however can't, the officer may raise power to accomplish control. In all actuality, an officer must have the capacity to heighten or de-raise as required and as saw." (Wolf, 2009)
Introduction: The copper content of U.S. pennies has declined over the years due to rising prices. The expensive metal makes up just 2.5 percent of one-cent pieces minted in 1982 or later; nickels, dimes and quarters, on the other hand, are mainly composed of copper. Still, today’s pennies cost more than their face value—an estimated 1.8 cents each—to produce.

Very few clubs have as great of an impact on a wide range of people as Rotary Interact. Rotary Interact has taught me exceptional leadership skills. I have learned to take the initiative to help others. I have also become more self-sacrificing as a result of the many projects we have undertaken. I have learned the importance of giving without expecting anything in return.
The amount of soil that was blown away reduced by 65% from the earlier years from the
This shows that flooding is the most influential consequence of climate change because of how it influences
This cooling caused considerable increase in rains in Colombia, especially in the Andean and Caribbean areas, which is the main effect associated with this weather phenomenon. Generally the phenomenon of "La Niña" happens and causes impacts that are opposite to those of "El Niño", which is characterized by the warming waters of the Pacific and trigger severe
Figure two below illustrates monthly precipitations data for each year at Onondaga Park, Syracuse, NY in the years 2008 and 2010. These volumes were articulate as a percentage of the monthly normal precipitation for each month of the year. To compute this number, the deviation from normal in percentage, the equation below was used: ((Monthly Precipitation in cm)-(Normal Values in cm))/(Normal Values in cm)*100 Based on the volume computed using the equation above the bar graph was generated, the upper bars, that are above the zero deviation from normal in percentage illustrates the wettest months in Syracuse for years 2008 and 2010. The lower bars below the deviation from normal in percentage shows the dries months in Syracuse for years 2008 and 2010.
Researchers have been looking at soil moisture data every month since 1901 to analyze how much the warming has affected the Californian drought. Valentine says it was found that, published in Geophysical Research Letters, “climate change can be blamed for between 8 to 27 percent of the drought conditions between 2012 and 2014”, leaning heavily on 20 percent. While this 20 percent of man-made climate change may sound small, the probability of extreme drought case had increased by a whole 100 percent. Now, instead of severe drought years occurring 7 percent of time in a climate change free zone, it is now at a 14 percent. That is to say, the effect of climate change having on the drought had been scientifically proven by scientists and researchers that proves that the current severe drought is a man-made
The children will participate in an active game. Children in the relaxed atmosphere of the game will be able to speak each other’s names, repeat words and phrases. In addition, they will learn sounds and ability to acting and learn the numbers during the songs/games. Finger play activity will be present. I figure out that due to the fast tempo of the lesson and change jobs, I kept children to maintain a constant interest in the games.
Police officers are learned in the academy about force continuum. Force continuum are considers police presence, verbal commands, threat of force, non-lethal compliance techniques, disabling techniques and lethal force. Now, be mindful depending on your police department policy, the incident situation, the officer and the area in which that officer polices these force continuum does not always goes as plan. When officers arrived to an incident location or witness an incident and confront the individual about the incident, he or she is showing officer presence. The presence of a police officer in uniform, marked police patrol vehicle, a plan clothes officer with a vest stating the officer department or depending on the situation a badge can
