It is impracticable to overemphasize the power of words. The overall number of the used words and understood words is called Vocabulary. Vocabulary is vital especially for students. This can be their greatest tool for succeeding, not only in school but as well as in life because a rich and wide vocabulary has been linked by the process of comprehending what has been read. This is prognostic and reflective of the high levels of reading achievement of a student. According to Rayner et. al (2001), Reading Comprehension on the other hand, is defined as the intensity of understanding of a text or message which appears with understanding from the interaction linking the words that are written and how they trigger knowledge outside the message. As cited on Pardo (2004) increasing vocabulary, wide-ranging reading and critical reading are effective trainings that can reinforce and refine the human’s capacity to comprehend. According to Rumelhart (1977), Schemata is the building blocks of cognition which are used in the practice of interpreting sensory information, in regaining data from the memory, in organizing goals and sub goals, distributing resources and in guiding flow of the processing scheme. The schemata do not provide an understanding of the incoming data coming from the passage that subjects read in this study, it refers to the unfamiliar words that are used in the context, thus schemata is still incomplete which leads to problems on processing and understanding the words and text, as well as the learning of the words which are unfamiliar to the
