Introduction Vodafone Overview Vodafone commenced operations in 1994 when its predecessor Hutchison Telecom acquired the cellular license for Mumbai. Brand Vodafone was launched in India in September 2007, after Vodafone Plc. acquired a majority stake in Hutchinson Essar in May 2007. The company has expanded its operations across the country to cover all 22 telecom circles and it provides service to 180 million customers. Vodafone: Company Logo with its Tagline Vodafone has an excellent coverage and has installed a total of 127,000 sites and 30,000 3G sites, across the country ensure uninterrupted service to its customers. The overall coverage constitutes a total of 84 percent, while our rural penetration is around 76 percent. There are 1.8 million recharging outlets, over 9000 exclusive and 34 angel stores. Network and Operations This department is responsible for operation, maintenance and transmission of incoming and outgoing traffic. NMS To help with the operations, Lightsoft NMS Software is used to implement the tasks at hand. NMS stands for Network Management System.
