We often become so busy in our own lives doing various activities such as: earning money, going to school, and meeting new friends, that we often overlook thinking of others. “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” –Mahatma Gandhi. In this quote, Gandhi states that the best way to spend time is aiding those who most need it. There are many places that could use extra help such as: children’s hospitals, animal shelters, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens. Service can mean numerous things, but to me, it means taking time out of my schedule to help others who are in need. Volunteering is ultimately beneficial because it can make a difference in our lives and the lives of others, builds upon our character, …show more content…
There are many people who do not have as much as we do, for which we take for granted. Some kids may not have as many nice toys as others; there could be a family struggling to buy small everyday items such as groceries or clothes. It teaches us: patience because of the time and effort that is needed for it; appreciation because we see people who have less than us; and communication skills/social connection because we have to learn to work and communicate with others. One may not have realized that they enjoy working with children or elderly people until after spending time with them. One place I enjoyed volunteering at was at Masjid-e-Ali, our community church. At our church, I helped children in a workshop where the kids would engage in religious activities and play games while the parents sat downstairs and listened to the religious speeches. My job was to make sure the children were satisfied without their parents and participating in productive activities. I put on religious movies and played interactive games with them. Without these types of activities, parents struggle to focus on the speeches because children can become rowdy after a while. I felt very satisfied after volunteering here because I saw the parents peacefully listening to the speeches without trouble and the children having fun in a productive way while I was watching them. This volunteering experience also
Previous to High School, I volunteered in the mall at Cafe Barnabas where I started to gain working experience. I got a chance to work with customers and do a lot of hands on tasks. I had a very fun time and grew strong bonds with the people I worked
When I was in third grade, I was diagnosed with a medical condition that required me to go to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh multiple times per month. It was boring, annoying, and sometimes painful. I never enjoyed going and that didn’t change as I got older. But when I just started going, I was very sick. Between the one hundred two-degree fever I had and the amount of blood they had to take out of me for tests, I felt miserable.
Every moment is a memorable part of the journey of life. I have always appreciated the value of giving to others because I believe that just being able to lend a hand to others, no matter how trivial it may be, is what makes life worth living. However, my desire to help people started when I began working with children as a teacher’s assistant. It would instill in me a lesson that I would never forget.
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
Passionate Church groups For my ethnography essay I have chosen to observe and write about a Christian church group known as the Dynasty youth ministry. They are a Christian church group that is located in Yuma, AZ with members usually being young high school students to early adults. I have chosen this topic because me personally I have never really attended church so I thought it would be a great way to learn more about religion, and also a great way to learn how passionate one can be about church and maybe it will encourage me to persuade someone who is distant from god to join.
Community service is one of the most rewarding things a person can do. I realized this most when I began volunteering at my school's clothes donation center, Cesar's Closet, named after the labor organizer and civil right's activist Cesar Chavez, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association. Cesar Chavez was well known for his community service. He did farmers a great service fighting for them to get a fair wage for their hard work. This is why my high school was named after him.
Most of the time I have no choice but to spend from my own pocket to reach places and people who desperately need my help. I have realized that some drug addicts will not come to me for help; therefore, as a social worker, I will dedicate my time to visit them, talk to them and offer them rehabilitation and help. Similarly, when going to areas stricken with poverty, I will have to bring along things like foodstuff and clothes to offer the poor. Voluntary service helps to change people’s perspectives on life and makes them feel obligated to achieve something good as ‘payback’ to the volunteers who help them without asking for pay. Therefore, by doing voluntary work, I will be making a big difference in the society.
I experience this joy every time I volunteer, and I recognize it as one of life 's greatest pleasures. My most rewarding volunteer experience was the time I operated a game booth at my church 's annual fair. I
Finally, I will continue to volunteer because of it give and what you get out of it. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I came out felling really well. What I got of volunteer over and over is that giving your time and self-back to other, I will be able to bring the experience in my career and help me with college internship or
Volunteering may provide opportunities to individuals to be with one’s friends or to engage in an activity viewed favorably by important others. The primary aim of mandatory volunteering is to encourage teenagers to be decent and caring citizens. By this way, high school students are to complete 30 to 40 hours unpaid service in their communities in order to graduate. Some people claim that having mandatory volunteering in the school program is extracurricular and affects students’ activity in the class. However, I strongly believe that it would be beneficial for their future states in a number of ways. First reason that I believe mandatory volunteering is beneficial is that it involves a great number of people from young age to serve in community.
VI. So today, I hope to persuade each of you to take a part as volunteer in any kind of situation. VII. Because, by being a part as a volunteer, it can increase your socialization yet it can make you physical and mental health more better and can improve your career level.
Volunteering has been proven to reduce mischief in adolescents, depression, heart disease, and even stress. If a person were to feel unimportant, volunteering has a way of making them feel like an important role in society. For all ages, volunteering can benefit each age group. To adolescents, it can keep them out of trouble and teach them life lessons. For adults, it can improve their self-worth and overall happiness in life.
Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
