Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream film adaptation creates a fantastical spin on the well-known Shakespeare play. The director is able to create an effective dream-like setting with the use of projections, lighting, and puppetry. From the beginning, there is a sense of wonder created, as without word or introduction, Puck, played by Kathryn Hunter, glides onto stage and lays down on a mattress supported by branches. Puck is then lifted into the air and a large white sheet consumes the stage. Even for those familiar with the play, such as myself, it immediately commands your mind to travel to the dream world Taymor has created.

Shaq signed with reebok because they were offering him the most money and they wanted an icon like shaq to be a part of their business. In 1998 reebok released shaq because he wasn’t selling enough shoes and then in 2008 he signed with the company Li Ning. Shaq also sucks at free throws and his free throw percentage is under 500. When you have a 7 foot 1 man playing in the NBA, you’re bound to have big feet (size 22 to be exact). With the average male in the U.S. having a 10.5 shoe size, he doubles most Americans. His foot is 50% bigger than the average NBA player. When I run, I make a lot of noise with my feet, but imagine Shaq’s feet. I think that the camera men probably think it’s a stampede. Shaq has a very interesting nickname, his nickname is the rainbow man. Shaq has that nickname
Super heroes and mythological characters in stories inspire us to be our better selves in various ways. One way super heroes and mythological characters inspire us to be our better selves is to help and save others. In the article “Into the Maze of Doom.” It says, “I cannot flee. I must kill the Minotaur or more young Athenians will die”. (14) This tells me that he was brave and he risked his life to save others. In the article “What’s With These Guys?” Kristen Lewis, it explicitly states, “They risk their lives to protect the innocent and the vulnerable, often against seemingly impossible odds.” (18)
Iowa is full of some really cool things. Like ice cream even though that ice cream is probably (hopefully) in every town there is somewhere to get ice cream. I remember that day in Selma, Alabama. I was 12 years old. I watched my parents get beaten with night sticks, and strawn out on the ground, laying there being trampled. Equal rights was all we wanted, all we have ever wanted, so we all took a stand.
• Who is Jason without his mask? In Part I “he” is his mother. A lurking first-person presence. In Part II Jason plays his own lurking presence seeking revenge more over his mother’s death than being neglected by camp counselors. In Part III, Jason nonchalantly picks up a mask off a porch and carries this mask through 8 subsequent films. The remake even opts to skip the mother as the killer back story and jump straight into the hockey mask.
Almost hidden away in LACMA’s Art of the Ancient Americas exhibit, among the intricate and sophisticated works of art from the ancient civilizations of Mexico and South America, is a small unassuming figure of a prominent Aztec deity – Xipe Totec. Xipe Totec is both god of spring and vegetation, as well as the patron of goldsmiths (Britannica). The Xipe Totec stone sculpture at LACMA stands at twenty-five inches high and ten inches wide and is carved from basalt by an Aztec artist from the Basin of Mexico around 1400-1521 (LACMA). Even thought the figure may seem modest at first glance, upon closer inspection the viewer can see a gruesome story quietly being told through exquisite Aztec sculpture.
A red cape rushes past, catching the wind within its grasp. It waves to those passing by on a warm afternoon. It is a beacon of hope… donned by a three-foot-seven-inch little boy. One may ask, “Why is he dressed like this?” The answer is quite simple: Superman is this little boy’s hero. “‘Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!’” His role model is someone to be in awe of, but, ultimately, Superman is flesh and bone. The other heroes children dress up as: firefighters, police officers, or princesses are still human. These men and women are people that should be admired. But, is there a way for all of humanity to take a step towards greatness? Arthur C. Clarke, the author
It is Captain America’s duty to not just protect the American people, but to lead and guide them. He is the face of all that America stands for from his star spangled suit to his values and heroism. Captain America symbolizes freedom and protection. I feel like he 's often understood to symbolize America, but he stands for more than that. He had never run from a fight and always insisted on standing up for himself and his beliefs. His ability to keep fighting for what he believed in, no matter the consequences, is a strong characteristic of his. He proved that nobody should ever give up hope because giving up is never an option for something you truly believe in.
Certain things just go together. They aren’t forced to go so well together, they are just naturally perfect together. For example, Oreo’s go with milk just like pen goes with paper. Throughout Watchmen, there are two things that develop together creating one thing. This is Rorschach and his mask. This pair is so important to the story. The pair of Rorschach and his mask is what makes the story alluring.
During our tour at the Legion of Honor, we observed art starting from the early and High Renaissance. Next, we went to the Dutch Baroque period, British art, and ended at the impressionists. A most notable work of art from the tour was “The Annunciation” by Master of the Retable of the Reyes Católicos. This oil on wood panel painting was created in the late 1500s, during the High Renaissance period of the art historical cannon. It portrays the biblical event found in the Gospel of Luke in which the archangel Gabriel announces to Mary that she is pregnant with Jesus, the son of God. “The Annunciation” is a religious painting and is an example of the many great works of art from the High Renaissance.
