A mission statement defines the company purpose. The mission describes the purpose of the company business, what the company stands for and address the needs of the customers, employees, stakeholders, their suppliers and community. A successful mission statement should be both engaging and memorable.

Wal-Mart Vision Statement
Wal-Mart original mission was to save their customers money. Their current mission is not only important to their customer but to their employees around the world. Their main mission statement is “Saving people money so they can live better” ( The company believe firmly in saving their customers money by offering their customers lower prices. Wal-Mart based is vision and mission statement on their cost-leadership generic strategy from the Porter’s model.

There are other unethical business practices that Wal-Mart has been accused of, from sexual discrimination and offering lower wages to their employment. There are several lawsuits that Wal-Mart has dealt with such as: forcing employees to work off the clock without being compensating, erasing hours that employees work off their time cards and making employees work through their lunches and breaks. The lawsuits filed accused Wal-Mart of not paying their hourly employee by forcing them to work through their breaks and lunch without compensating them for overtime.
