A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes
Imagine being the man who dreamed up numerous entertaining characters that were put into money making movies, made major advancements in the entertainment industry, and are honored with two different theme parks that together raked in 2.2 billion dollars in 2013 (Niles). Walt Disney is known for sparking a sense of wonder, creativity, and imagination in people- no matter their age. Disney’s artistic and creative vision was so influential that even fifty years after his death, the projects and dreams he made a reality then, are still being acknowledged and appreciated today. His influence was so significant, in fact, that he has two major theme parks named after him where his ideas and characters come to life to carry on his legacy. On average,

Within this eventful film there is a woodworker who makes a wish upon a star that his newly created puppet, Pinocchio, could become a real boy. A fairy makes the hope of the woodworker come true. But unfortunately for Pinocchio, he has a problem with lying. Not only is his problem all of the lies that he tells, but every time he lies, his nose grows. The lesson in Pinocchio, being a quite obvious one, is to not tell fibs. This film is just another entertaining example of how Walt Disney created movies that appealed to both children and adults in a very positive and uplifting manor. Perhaps the most popular Disney movies among girls are all of the classic Disney Princess films. From Cinderella, to The Little Mermaid, to The Beauty and the Beast, each princess movie had a beautiful “Happily Ever After”, and each princess lived out her own fairy tale. Walt Disney was prominent among people for all of his wonderful films he created. Each movie is special in its own unique way, giving people an abundance of choices for their all time favorite Walt Disney
After the death of Walt Disney, The Walt Disney Company was not sure if it was going to survive. Walt Disney died from lung cancer on December 16, 1966. Roy Disney continued his brother’s legacy and became president of The Walt Disney Company. Roy’ s goal was to continue to establish and guide the company in the same way Disney did. Roy continued the plans for the construction of Disneyland Florida, which was Walt’s final project before his death.
Walt Disney was one person who was greatly impacted by the free enterprise system, and who greatly impacted the buisness world. Ho was not only the pioneer of animation, but he has built two multi-million dollar theme parks, that many people today enjoy and come from all over the world to see. Most people think that you have to be rich and have lots of money to become an entrepenur, but many people start off with nothing at all, that was the case with Walt Disney. He started off with nothing, living out of his office and eating cold beans before he became the successful entrepeneur he is today. "if you can dream it, you can do it," was a quote Walter lived by an it must have been a big help in getting him where he needed to be, but he didn't
The Cinderella tale has been at the heart of many stories for generations. People have become very familiar with the storyline, as it is very prevalent in society today through many moderns movies and stories. The Cinderella story is adored by young children, more specifically by young girls. However as a more feminist culture has emerged, society’s viewpoint of fairytales is becoming increasingly negative. In, “The Princess Paradox” and “Cinderella and Princess Culture”, authors James Poniewozik and Peggy Orenstein further evaluate themes found in the Cinderella stories.
This film teaches a very special lesson that should be taken upon yourselves daily. It is filled with heart, forgiveness, sincere, and of course happiness!!! The story has been told to every little child in every little home. There are movies, plays, scripts, and much more that have been based on this story. Yet each one differs in their own little way.
The movie “The Princess and the Frog” is not your typical “boy saves girl” movie. Instead, this Disney movie presents us with a strong female lead who doesn’t need a man to achieve her goals. In many previous Disney movies, it is demonstrated that a girl needs a man in order to get her happily ever after. Without a prince, she is nothing. In “The Princess and the Frog” the gender roles are presented to us as equal, even reverse at times.
It also tells young women that can’t be independent, and that they need a man to protect and save them. Disney princess movies show young children how they should look and many girls feel like they can’t be a princess because of how they look and boys feel that they won’t be able to achieve the strength of their heros. The single story of disney movies shows how as young children we are only seeing what disney wants us to see, rather than the history and cruelty behind it.
Walt Disney made many films for Americans during the Great Depression and harsh times of the Second World War. He impacted Americans psychologically and politically through his movies; but he impacted Americans socially through his characters. Walt Disney created everyone’s favorite character “Mickey Mouse” to entertain children and adults alike. He started making movies to bring happiness to everyone during the Great Depression, but what not everyone knows, he was labeled as a “Nazi.” During World War II, he made propaganda films for the Allies while attending the Nazi rallies.
While many Disney movies include beautiful princesses that marry handsome princes and live happily ever after, Beauty and the Beast is different. Belle is not considered beautiful, and Beast is certainly not handsome, but they love each other regardless. The movie shows young girls that love is not all about being pretty, but that it comes from the heart. Overall, Beauty and the Beast is an influential movie for children because it teaches them to be more accepting of others and that a person is more than what is expressed on the
In What’s Wrong With Cinderella? by Peggy Orenstein, she argues the stereotypical views on the female population and the unfavorable aspect of princess fairytales. As a feminist, Orenstein feels the need to defy against the negative outlook on girls and protect her own daughter from the hostility of these false feminine beliefs. She embraces the idea that the princess culture is showing that beauty and perfection is the importance in young girl’s lives. While Orenstein recognizes how princess culture affects the female population in a negative way, she fails to acknowledge a more positive outlook on women.

Walt Disney had an impact on the world through media, science, and animation. When most people think of Walt Disney, they think of the creator of Mickey Mouse and Disneyland. In the middle to the end of the movie the message that is sent to the audience is that they can follow their hearts and do what they feel is right and what will make them happy. People tend to be more intimated by strong and independent women who aren't afraid to go for what they want. Since the movie was targeted towards young children they could easily influenced by the messages in the movie. You don't normally catch these messages when you are younger but as you get older and watch the movie you see it right away. The second message in the movie is more positive and one that I would hope more young girls especially would listen to.
The Little Mermaid which was produced in 1989, was the first Disney movie to challenge the traditional gender roles, for the fact that Ariel wanted to explore, and was more independent and assertive in her desires than the earlier princesses of the 1930’s and 50s films. Also the prince in The Little Mermaid went against traditional gender roles as well, simply because he was more affectionate and loving than his prince counterparts in other Disney films. “Both the male and female roles have changed over time, but overall the male characters evinced less change then the female characters and were more androgynous throughout.” (Descartes & England, pg.566). Disney movies have been for a long time a strong media target for children, and can serve as a way to address stereotypical gender roles (Leaper, 2000).
