He lives in New York City.Steve is on trial for munder.Don’t monster only go on trial for munder? In the novel, Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, Steve Harmon was a monster because he lied and knew about a robbery. Steve was a monster because he lied in court. This shows Steve giving his testimony and lying telling the court he doesn’t talk to king. The book said,“‘ Usually I See him in the playground. Maybe he’d say something like “Those guys can’t play ball,”stuff like that.”’(Myers 229). This proves Steve is a monster because he lied in court. We knew he was lying because in a flashback it shows Steve having

Lying is bad because it can hurt people and get people hurt.Steve is a monster because he knew that a crime was going to be committed. In addition,Steve was a monster because he knew about the robbery. This quote shows Steve is being asked to be apart of the robbery. The book said,“‘Drugstores always keep some money…All we need is a lookout… You know, check the place out…”’ (Myers 150).This shows Steve is a monster because he knew a robbery was about to go down. He didn’t tell anyone what a was about to happen so it makes his a bad person by not stopping robbery from happening. He is a monster because he let people rob a store and kill an innocent man.Steve is a bad person because there was a robbery he knew was going to happen and didn’t tell anyone and let someone get killed so he is a monster. Also,Petrocelli giving her speech and saying Steve was involved with the robbery. The book said,“‘ The man who was to enter the store and check it out is sitting at the other table. His name is Steven Harmon.”’(Myers 24.)This shows Steve is a monster because it shows his talking part in a crime.Steve was in the store the day the store got robbed making him a part of the crime. Steve is a bad person because he committed a crime.Steve is a bad person because he knew about a bad crime and when u don’t tell anyone that is bad and proves he is a monster and should go to jail.Steve is a monster because he knew something bad was …show more content…
Not being found guilty means 12 people also though he was not guilty.Being found not guilty means the jury believe he didn’t do anything wrong and wasn’t apart of the robbery or the crime. However, just because Steve was found not guilty doesn’t mean he was innocent. Therefore, Steve was a monster.Steve was a monster because friends with bad people. In a flashback it showed Steve arguing with Osvaldo and Freddy saying Steve be hanging out with bad people. The author wrote,“‘ You better chill he hangs with some bad dudes.”’ (Myers 81). Proving Steve is a bad person is better to argue about because there is more evidence proving he is a monster. With Steve hanging around bad people could pick up their bad habit. Picking up bad habits is wrong because it could lead Steve down a path he doesn’t want to take.By taking a bad path down the wrong way can lead to consequences and punishments.Steve is a monster because he hangs with bad friend and bad people do and thing that are bad. Bad friends but purpresture on their friends to do bad thing making Steve a monster and a bad
There was a lack of evidence to convict Steve guilty. Others have shown Steve's lack of guilt through their actions. On the night of the robbery and murder, there was no proven statement Steve was at the convenience store. He was caught up with the wrong people at the wrong time.
His actions are heinous. Monster is a label Steve wants to distance himself from. The title Monster is significant because it represents the evil of murder and the theme of the book. It shows that if one man is capable of killing another in cold blood, then he is not a human but rather a monster.
Steve is 16 years old and lives in Harlem, New York. Steve is a good person because he cares, loves, and wants the world to be better. In the novel, Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, Steve Harmon was a good person because he was not guilty, and he cares for others. Steve Harmon was a good person because he was found not guilty.
He admits on camera that there was a sexual relationship between him and Susan. Steve wrote songs about her, would try and record her, or take pictures of her, and said he was very aroused by her presence. He would save personal items used by Susan and take things of hers that could be considered revolting. Although, it was recorded that Susan had no interest in him and wanted him to stop. Steve was eventually investigated and convicted of child pornography.
(Myers 226). Steve is a monster because he said that was the only thing they talked about. In reality they talked about kicking someone's butt. That is lying to the jury. Steve was in the store but he lied to the jury about it and that makes him a
Although you might wonder why I mentioned the money saying he might have participated, the main reason they committed the crime was for money. So why did Steve not get paid? I am writing this essay to prove that Steve correctly proved his innocence to the judge and juries. The first major evidence is that Lorelle Henry did not witness Steve in the store while she was there.
In the novel, Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, 16- year- old Steve Harmon is placed on trial for felony murder. Steve tries to prove his innocence to the jury and he is found not guilty. Therefore, he is acquitted of any crime. However, Steve’s contradicting thoughts make the reader question his innocence.
Steve was the president of the USA gymnastics team and contributed to this investigation because he would formally hide many different cases from authorities because he was scared of ruining team USA’s reputation. Steve wanted to ensure the protection of Larry Nassar, and the name of USA gymnastics. When athlete Meggie Nichols reported Larry to her coach for inappropriately touching her it was sent to Steve who told Meggie's parents they were not allowed to contact the police because it would disrupt a current investigation against Larry and other victims. Steve formally lied to Maggie’s parents about the investigation so Larry would not receive any spotlight on his actions. The toxic culture of USA gymnastics protected the brand, not the
Steve is portrayed as a victim of a racist legal system that assumes his guilt based on his race and appearance. I can show this using this quote said by Steve's lawyer, “My job is to make sure the law works for you as well as against you, and to make you a human being in the eyes of the jury. ”(Walter Dean Myers) This quote shows how his lawyer sees how race could play a role in whether or not the jury decides whether or not he is guilty. The prosecutor and police officers involved in the case are all white, and they use racial stereotypes and assumptions to build their case against Steve.
Steve Harmons actions depicted his characteristics and we can, therefore, conclude that Steve Harmon is a liar as he lied under oath. Steve was also a guilt-ridden man ashamed of his actions. People who disagree may claim that Steve was undoubtedly innocent as Lorelle Henry, a witness, declared that there were only 2 people, proven to be James King and Bobo Evans, inside the store who eventually murdered Mr.Nesbitt. This may be a strong argument because it shows that Steve was not in the drugstore and could be really innocent. On the contrary, however, Steve’s job was just supposed to be a lookout and ensure that the drugstore was clear of cops or anyone inside.
I believe Myers was actually a good person; as he child, he was mentally and phsicallagically abused by his older step-sister and step-father. This led him to kill anyone related to their family. There was a growing fear of Michael Myers regardless of the person being alone or in a group. Although, people act less
His wording shows that he doesn’t know who he is and therefore believes he is a Monster as Ms. Petrocelli calls him. He accepts people’s judgments as his self-truth. Even though, he, himself, accepts the worst he still wants people to perceive him as a good person, especially his mom. Steve’s mom’s words cut deeper in him because his mom believes he didn’t do it while he knows he did. 5 days into the trial, his mother comes by and talks to him hoping to make him feel better, “I could still feel Mama’s pain.
If he puts his story out there, the jury will see differently. O’Brien is giving good legal advice to him, showing she is ethical. Lastly, O'Brien is encouraging steve to be honest while proving his innocence on trial. Steve answers, “Last summer?” O’brien shows whether she likes or dislikes some of his answers to get him ready.
First of all, Steve was not the lookout because he never confessed to it. For instance, when O’Brien asked Stever if he was a part of the robbery, Stever answers, I know I wasn't in the drugstore on page 229. He is also under oath. So why would he lie to the judge if he doesn’t want to go the jail? So that's a way to prove he is innocent.
Steve also started to pull pranks on the school teachers. His parents did not like this at all, and thought that Steve was turning into a juvenile delinquent. As a result Steve and his family left that school district and moved to Los Altos, Ca. In his new school Steve started to make friends who also enjoyed learning about electronics. One of Steve's friends was Bill Fernandez.
