The war of 1812 is one to remember. The war happened between the British and the Americans. This happened because the British stopped trade with the Americans due to a war between the British and the French. Another reason was because of the impressment that the British started against the American sailors. For these reasons, the war of 1812 happened.

With Britain giving weapons to Native Americans a few years back and their continuation of impressing sailors, the American people demanded war. Eventually, the government gave in and declared war during the summer of 1812 which was pretty unfortunate for Britain as they were still fighting their war with France.

The war of 1812 was between the United States and Great Britain. This war began in 1812 and ended in 1814. Consequently, one of the causes of this conflict was the British impressment of American. The British impressment of American was the  British forcing Americans to serve in the British naval. Nevertheless, causing the Americans to declare war.  British had a reputation in winning many wars, but after the loss of manpower during the war with France it became hellish. Factors that caused hell for the British sailors were hard labor, beatings, low wages, and fear for their life. This horrible living caused few sailors to even go awol. The War of 1812, also known as “The Forgotten War," was a war that was fought in 1812 between the British and the United States. This was a war that would truly test the strength of the newly expanded America. The United States of America went to war with Britain for many reasons, including the fact that they were impressing American sailors, supporting the Native Americans, and the people at the time believed that Britain caused the agricultural depression.

Did you know that The War of 1812 started only 29 years after the American Revolution? There were several forces that led to America declaring war on Britain in 1812. Three of the reasons that led to this war are, Britain ignored American trading rights, Americans wanting to expand their land, and Jefferson announced a total embargo on American trading.

The War of 1812 was a war that was caused by both the English and French imposing economic sanctions on the United States, the British impressment of American seamen into the Royal Navy, and America’s desire to expand (History).

The War of 1812 was very big and affected many groups of people. One of the reasons why it began was because of Jefferson’s eager decisions to get rid of the Indians and their responses towards that. “Reports that the British were encouraging Tecumseh’s efforts contributed to the coming of the War of 1812.” (Foner 318) The United States and Britain didn’t get along and there were many conflicts between them some of which were related to the Indians. Jefferson wanted the Indians gone and wanted control of their land. The Indians didn’t want anything to do with the Americans and in fact they wanted to resist them with Britain’s support. Just 29 years after the American Revolutionary War, America and Great Britain were back to butting heads. This time it was not over the matter of independence, but over a cluster of reasons. Little by little, the British were starting to disturb the Americans. These reasons included British attempts to restrict U.S. trade, the Royal Navy’s impressment of American seamen and the arming of Native Americans. During the war, the Canadians sided with the British while the indians chose to fight on both sides. In the end, no-one won and the only ones who ended up losing where the Native American Indians.

It was basically the last major battle against Great Britain. A fact, before the war was fought a peace treaty was signed. The treaty of Ghent was signed on December 1814, but it did not reach the Americas until after the battle. The battle was not the reason why the war ended, but it was good for the US reputation. That Americans can function independently, and it enforced the idea of the US being able to hold their own.

What Led to the Declaration of the War of 1812 and What Did We Gain?

The war of 1812 began because America got mad at Britain Because they started to impress american people to join their Royal Navy. It also started because of America’s desire for more territory. America didn’t like the fact the the British was coming over to America and just taking American people and forcing them to be in their Royal Navy. American troops tried to defend themselves in New York, Baltimore and New Orleans, and they were successful in doing so and it boosted National confidence and it fostered a new Spirit of Patriotism.

The War of 1812 was in itself a catalyst for the shift in the political dynamics of the Democratic-Republicans and the Federalist Party. The trade restrictions that were the British Orders in Council and French Continental System not only challenged America’s neutrality stance but also the political parties’ economic and military stances in order to align with their overarching self-interests. The war waged by Madison against the British was welcomed by Democratic-Republicans concentrated in the South and West, and rejected by the dying Federalists in New England. Formerly against a large military and advocates of a peaceful and neutral foreign policy, the Democratic-Republicans became the ones campaigning for war whereas Anglophile Federalists

There were many causes that led to the beginning of the War of 1812. The war lasted from June 1812 to February 1815. The War of 1812 was a war fought between the United States of America and Great Britain. One of the main reasons that the war began was because Great Britain was using impressment against America. Impressment is when you raid other ships and get whatever goods they have and force the crew into your navy. They took thousands of United States naval men into their army. Great Britain had one of the strongest navies in the world at the time. When Thomas Jefferson became president, the United States and Great Britain started moving away from each other.

The War of 1812 was an armed conflict between the United States and the most powerful naval force in the world, Great Britain. The war, which would have a great impact among its people began on June 18, 1812 and finalized on February 18, 1815. This disastrous war was a result of a global conflict and Britain’s injustice actions toward America. As the war broke out, both countries faced devastating challenges such as casualties, destructions, and invasions, but in the end the treaty of Ghent would be the resolution and this would then come to be known as the “second war of independence.”
