Warrior Day

Warrior Day, a day in which AFROTC cadets face both mental and physical challenges in a competition amongst one another. For the AS100s like myself and AS250s, our first warrior day provided a unique experience which would only make ourselves better in the program. Warrior day consisted of a midterm evaluation, drill evaluation, warrior knowledge competition, and a physical training (PT) session. The first portion of Warrior Day consisted of a midterm exam on our warrior knowledge. The exam was quite easy for the cadets who spent time carefully studying all the knowledge learned throughout the knowledge. The exam was a fair evaluation of our ability to retain the knowledge we are required to know. With the

It evaluated our flight commander’s ability to lead a flight and evaluate the ability of the AS100s/250s/200s to perform proper drilling. The overall experience seemed to have been good since the flight commanders did an outstanding job leading and the cadets did fine in the actual drilling even though there were moments we made errors, we made sure we did not make mistakes the next time. The drilling evaluation showed that we are improving as time goes on. Soon after was a warrior knowledge competition between Charlie Flight and Delta Flight. Though a test of our comprehension of our warrior knowledge, the competition was fun due to the competitive aspect of having the flights compete with one another to see who gets the most questions correct. Unfortunately, Charlie Flight lost to Delta Flight…on the bright side, the competition gave a refresher of the warrior knowledge any cadets were unsure of or did not know. Lastly, there was PT. A competitive feel was added to PT since we had to form groups for a tough relay race involving sprinting and bear crawling. Despite the toughness, we pushed through the relay, constantly motivating each other to push through. Every cadet made sure they gave their best effort, pushing themselves as hard as they could to make sure they complete the relay, to the point that I myself was no longer able to physically stand and
St. Valentine’s Day Massacre (and More) Capone’s public popularity began to fade after he became associated with extreme violence. Perhaps the most infamous crimes he is suspected of being in charge of is the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 1929, where he hired men to gun down rival gang member, Bugs Moran. Of the seven men killed that day, however, Moran was not one of them, as it was rumored that he had sensed the ambush and escaped before anyone else realized what was happening (“Al Capone,” FBI.gov). The police immediately knew who had staged this gang-inspired massacre, however, Capone was in Florida at the time, yet again making it nearly impossible for the local law enforcement to acquire evidence that would prove his involvement
Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattilo Beals is a memoir about Beals experiences and her journey while integrating Little Rocks Central High School. She wanted to share her story about what it was like to grow up in the middle of the civil rights movement and what it was like to be one of the nine students who were the first African Americans to integrate a public all white school. During and after reading the book a few thoughts went through my head. First, was my reaction at the horrific things that were done to Melba by integrationist in Central High. For example, while in the bathroom stall a group of girls locked her in and began dumping paper that was light on fire onto her.

June 6th 1944, probably the most important day in history. Not only for the United States but also for all of Europe. D-day started the fall of Nazi Germany who took over pretty much all of Europe during the time of Adolf Hitler. The United States got involved in WW2 because of another event called Pearl Harbor.
The Powwow: A Culturally Significant Event On April 28th at 2 PM I volunteered to work at the powwow. The powwow holds a cultural significance for Native Americans and celebrates heritage. I observed a beautiful display of culture and I gained a real understanding of diversity. As someone from a Hispanic background I understand the significance of keeping culture alive.
As conflict arises a nation may enter into a state of destruction and violence, leading to the prominence of admirable leaders characterized by their ingenuity, ideals and admirable attributes. The American Civil War was an imperative and decisive series of battles that lead to the creation of resolutions regarding the conflict over slavery. With the progression of the war, leaders emerged from the Confederate and Union armies, among the most notable are Robert E. Lee, commander of the Confederate army, and Colonel Joshua Chamberlain, colonel in the Union army. The strategic decisions and military positions reflect the personal attributes of these prevalent leaders, thus affirming their dexterity and personal emotions. In The Killer Angels, a novel by Michael Shaara, the paralleling and contrasting attributes of Robert E. Lee and Joshua Chamberlain are asserted as their decisions and personalities influence the outcome of the war.
As we all know, Native Americans have suffered greatly within their culture and are still struggling in society today even though this is their land. To celebrate these people and to remember their ancestors, Native American history month is in November. Note: When I do history month activities I plan on doing the ethnic/race group that whole month so these are only a few ideas that I will be including in my classroom. One simple and fun activity I found is a song about these Native People. It is a learning song that I found on this website here.
Writer, Maxine Hong Kingston, in her excerpt “No Name Woman”, from her book The Woman Warrior, narrates a part of her history from the story of her family. Within her excerpt from paragraph 21 to paragraph 27, Kingston recounts a story of her aunt committing suicide after giving birth to an illegitimate child. Her purpose is to share and inform about her Chinese culture through her family’s past. She expresses an ambivalent tone while retelling her aunt’s story in order to appeal to contradictory thoughts in her mature readers. With the use of ethos and pathos, diction and syntax, Kingston is able to create an ambivalent tone toward her aunt’s history.
“... O say does that star spangled banner yet wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Nearly every American can recite the final lines of our National Anthem. However, few take the time to truly contemplate the meaning of these words. When I hear these phrases, I think of the principles on which our country was founded: the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. But perhaps more important than these rights are the defenders of them: our veterans.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors are two prestigious franchises. How would both these teams face off in today 's game? The 2000-2001 Lakers and the 2015-2016 Warriors. Lizzy S. Ruacho Mrs. Jarrell AP English lll 4 April 2016 The Woman Warrior In order for people to move into the future, they must first accept themselves and their past. It is also a necessity in human nature to find a purpose as well as their social role in their environment in order to know which direction to take in life and live in peace and harmony. Maxine Hong Kingstone captures the essence of self-identity in The Woman Warrior, a memoir of her life as a Chinese-American woman.
We can quite clearly trace the poet’s emotional journey throughout his poetic works. One of the most obvious themes in his poetry is a longing for what has been lost; friends, innocence, life. His tone is often reminiscent and wistful, yet there is a constant underlying sadness that cannot be ignored. Though it is through these war poems that Ungaretti found his voice as a poet, it comes with a heavy burden.
Written in 1975, Maxine Hong Kingston's autobiography, The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts, invites readers into the life of one Asian American writer. In this autobiographical work, Kingston uses the stories of five unique individual women to illustrate how the effects of race, class and gender create boundaries to victimize women. No-Name Woman, Kingston's long forgotten aunt becomes a target for violence when the village turns on her for committing adultery. Moon Orchid, Kingston's living aunt, tries to resume her marriage with her husband only to be rejected; Brave Orchid, Kingston's mother, abandons her professional career as doctor in order to assist her husband in need of financial support. Similarly, Fa Mu Lan, the
