Rough Draft
On April 14, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was brutally assassinated by John Wilkes Booth In Ford’s Theatre, Washington, D.C. I believe Lincoln's assassination was unjustified because he did many things to help and better the United States. Some people think that his death was justified because he took slaves away from people that used them. Not only did he abolish slavery, but he also led to union to victory over the confederacy in the American Civil War and signed the first homestead acts. Abraham Lincoln’s actions made many people very happy but also made others furious and enraged them. That is why I think that President Lincoln's death was unjustified.
First of all, President Lincoln ended slavery following the end of the American Civil War when he proposed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st 1863. In the book “Killing Lincoln” by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard it says, “ Booth’s Hatred for Lincoln and his deep belief in the institution of slavery, coalesced into a silent rage after The Emancipation Proclamation.” The text is implying that

When President lincoln was elected the southern states began to leave the United States because they thought that he was going to try to end slavery. General Robert E. Lee surrendered his army to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9th, 1865. 6 days later, on April 14th, 1865, President Lincoln was killed. The first newspaper to be released about his death was the New York Times’ “President Lincoln Shot by an Assassin.; The Deed Done at Ford's Theatre Last Night…” The article reads, :The pistoi ball entered the back of the President's head and penetrated nearly through the head. The wound is mortal. The President… is now dying.” The article talks about President Lincoln's assassination. That was the second reason why I think that President Lincoln's assassination was
Likelyhood of Julius Caesar, one of Romes most feared leaders, and Abraham Lincoln, one of Americas greatest presidents having much in common, wasn't much I thought. With more research I realized they had more in common like, they both had statues erected in their honor, there empires say a civil war close to there rain there's more I became fascinated on. In 60 BC, Caesar, Crassus and Pompey formed a political alliance that dominated Roman politics for several years. Their attempts to amass power as Populares were opposed by the Optimates within Romes Senate, among them Cato the Younger with the frequent support of Cicero.
The book Chasing Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson really focuses on how Lincoln died, and on the search for the killer. In this book, Abraham Lincoln was shot in Ford's theatre by an actor named John Wilkes Booth. After booth shot Abraham Lincoln, he fell off the top seat and broke his leg. Abraham Lincoln eventually died at 7:22:10 am. Booth and his group of associates’ plan were to kill the leaders in the government (Abraham Lincoln, Vice-president Johnson, and Secretary Seward).
Do you think Abraham Lincoln assassination was unjust or do you think his assassination was just? I believe the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was unjust because he opposed slavery and was a good leader however some believe he is what started the civil war that cost the North and South to fight each other. President Lincoln was a good leader. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president he was the first republican president to win the election.
In all honesty, no one would have really known of what happened to Lincoln if he had survived. However, it may have turned out quite differently based off what Lincoln had already begun with his plans for Reconstruction with the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction. He strived to unify the country. To the best of his ability, he would have helped the black people by making sure local governments within the states allowed them the right to vote. With his focus on the matter of equality, the problems with the southerners could've been counteracted and the uprising of racial oppositional groups (KKK) could have eradicated.
Abraham Lincoln’s assassination was unjust because he was a helper, and he was a role model; however, some believe he had too much power. There are many reasons why Abraham Lincoln’s assassination was unjust. First, it was unjust because he was a helper and he free the slaves. Also he helped out during the civil war.
President Lincoln, seriously wounded, was carried to a lodging house across from Ford’s Theater. At 7:22am, Abraham Lincoln died, becoming the first president
We can state the obvious, that we are not all perfect, and we certainly say things we don’t mean. Was President Lincoln really a racist? There is documented text that could point evidence that leans in either direction. Things said in the heat of long debates and drawn out conversations that ran for hours, does not make such a monumental man a poor or hypocritical person. Looking at the Constitutional right that “All men are created equal” to the thought that things won’t change without action, and to a man with no moral obligation other than to share his personal option that slavery was wrong, we dive into President Lincoln.
He was attending the Peterson Theater with his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln in Washington D.C. John Wilkes Booth came from behind him at the theater, and shot him in the head as soon as he was given the cue of the funniest line of the play: "Don't know the manners of good society, eh?
Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Was Falsely Accused Of His Role In Lincoln’s Murder A little after the confederates surrendered at Appomattox, Lincoln went to see a play at Ford’s theater in Washington. D.C. The only security guard left to get a drink at a nearby bar, while he was gone Booth seized his chance and shot Lincoln In the head. Booth then jumped off onto the stage and broke his left ankle in the process and left.
Abraham Lincoln had absolutely no supposition of being shot that day. I find so ironic that while Lincoln was attending a performance a man known to be an actor was devised to kill him. Booth slipped into the box and fired his pistol into the back of Lincoln’s head. The simple fact that Booth was a well-known actor did not make the crowd panic when he directed a pistol at Lincoln's head. In my opinion, this was one of the most insane events of American history.
“President Abraham Lincoln gets assassinated” Yesterday on the night of April 14, 1865 we received the news that Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States, got mortally wounded by a man called John Wilkes Booth in the Presidential Box of Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C., while watching Our American Cousin, a comedy playing in the theater. "Honest Abe" is not all that Americans think. Sources state that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated because of the money he printed debt-free ("Whiteout Press"). But the real reason John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln was because Lincoln suspended writ of habeas corpus, arrested people that spoke out against him and oversaw concentration two camps. Abraham Lincoln 's assassination is directly correlated to him being a war criminal ("Southern Sentinel").
Five days after the Confederacy’s surrender, John Wilkes Booth had successfully killed one of the most influential presidents in American history to do what he believed would redeem power to the southern states. Booth’s main goal was to tear down the Union’s government by taking down their leader and his successors, but the original plan did not involve the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Historian Christopher Hammer explained in his article "Booth's Reason for Assassination", the former actor had created a group of co conspirators and designed "a ploy on March 17 to capture Lincoln as he traveled in his carriage [and had] collapsed when the president changed his itinerary—and several of Booth’s conspirators ultimately left the group.” (Teaching History). Since the failed capture of the president, Booth hatred towards Lincoln grew after hearing the president’s goal to officially abolish slavery in his Second Presidential
Behind the Scenes with Lincoln’s Death Chasing Lincoln’s Killer certainly changes the question; How was Lincoln killed? Who killed him? In Chasing Lincoln’s Killer the Civil War had come to a conclusion. Yes all were happy except for the federalists, especially John Wilkes Booth. Booth not being satisfied with the way the war ended, started to plot a plan to kill the president, A.K.A: President Lincoln.
He wanted greatness and thought that would lead him to success, which was one of the reasons he failed. John Wilkes Booth did not accomplish his goal because he didn't motivate the South, he didn't keep the Civil War going, and he didn't become known as a Southern hero. To begin with, John Wilkes Booth didn't motivate the South, one of the main goals of his. The South had already given up at the time. The whole point of killing Lincoln was for Southern glory, which he didn't achieve.
