Existing Solution
In many less developed remote areas, people wash clothes by hand using cold or warm water that they carry from a river or pull up from a well. Existing technologies for washing clothes do not work well in least developed rural areas. Shortage of electricity makes powered washing machines unfeasible. The parts of imported washing machines that might need for maintenance repairs are difficult to transport due to poor road conditions in remote areas.
Existing Washing Machine
The prices of washing machine varies, depending upon features and capabilities. All of the washing machines available in the market are electric power driven and the basic principle of their operation depends upon creation of the turbulent flow of detergent …show more content…

Pedal-powered washing machine of MIT 1. It is driven by human kinetic energy

Possible Solution
The most important feature in the design of the machine is its ability to perform as a device that comforts the task of washing clothes. In order to be a possible solution in rural area, the machine should be able to convey the same quality of washing without adding excessive expenses in terms of water usage, clothing wear, and effort required to function, etc. Therefore the design and procedure of the machine should be based in the physics of clothes washing, with a special importance on the mechanical features, for example- water temperature and detergent composition are likely to differ. There are other secondary objectives with variable degrees of importance that could benefit make the machine more useful. Water savings can increase by doing fewer wash cycles with increase the ability to spin dry-off. The safety features should also to be considered in pedal power washing machine because it driven by chain and sprocket. Pedal washing machine define as washing machine operated by pedaling. According to Home Scale Pedal powered Cassava Grater Journal, the definition of …show more content…
