1. Introduction Today television plays a big role in many people’s life, especially for children. It is hard to imagine a world without television. Thanks to the development of technology, television is invented, and considered as a great medium that provokes imagination, encourages education, and entertains the children around the world. Television can also be a beefy influence in developing value systems and shaping behavior (Bee, 1998).
The missing of school will lead to bad academically performance. Television viewing replaces activities that improve school performance such as getting enough sleep. (Kyla Boyse) The lack of enough sleep causes teenagers to be tired in class and therefore fail to concentrate on what is being taught. The author states that television’s effects on education are long-term .Therefore watching television as a child can influence educational level even at the age of 26.That was proved by a 15 years long study done by the University of Michigan researchers which discovered negative effects of television on teenagers. Children who watch a lot of television programs tend to work less on their homework and retain less skill and information when there is a television on the background.
