The Lebanon Water Festival
Started in 2012, the Lebanon Water Festival prompted the reemergence of water sports along Lebanon’s Mediterranean Sea coast. A favorite place among Lebanese and foreigners alike, the Festival was initiated to promote and revive Lebanon’s unique coast line.
Kicking off with a Jet Ski competition, the Lebanon Water Festival travels up and down the Lebanese coast for two months concluding with a spectacular waterski show that attracted more than fourteen thousand on site spectators.
The festival is packed with water sports activities and competitions for underwater photography with the participation of many Lebanese and foreign divers.
The festival, which has become an annual fixture, places Lebanon on the map of water sports tourism and also guides people who are interested in water sports
In Robert Kurson’s book, “Shadow Divers,” he reveals how a group of divers solve one of the last mysteries of World War II. Captain Bill Nagle owns the Seeker which is a charter boat that people can rent to take them to shipwrecks. Nagle is a world renowned deep sea shipwreck diver, because he pushes the limits on how far and where divers can go. Nagle has explored some of the most dangerous shipwrecks such as the Andrea Doria and Texas Tower. He has also retrieved various souvenirs from wrecks such as china dishes and the boat’s bell, but Nagle has massive respect for the history of sunken watercraft.
