1. List two details that reveal that Jean Hoerni is proud of his role in the CAI. Jean Hoerni is very proud of his role in the CAI (Central Asia Institute). First things first, Jean helps Greg as a friend and also keeps him motivated into the next big task. Hoerni was always supportive to Greg and all of the things he did for the children and their education. Greg spoke to seas and seas of people trying to collect money for the children. Jean Hoerni didn’t do that. But he put one million dollars into Greg’s hands knowing that he will do good deeds with the money provided for the CAI. This shows that Hoerni had a vision for the CAI. He knew that whatever Greg did, he would always be proud because he was also the one built the foundation. Hoerni also asked Greg for a picture of the finished school in Korphe. This shows that his belief in the CAI is like a bond that could never be broken. It keeps you going as well as it keeps flowing. As water spreads, people thrive. That could be spreading the news that Greg is coming or simply that the water is going to make our crops flourish. Greg was suffering from loneliness. This is what cause Greg Ousley to go “Berserk” and kill both of his parents with a 12 gauge shotgun. It is stated in the article that his mom thought he was crazy as well by saying that he “watches way too many movies”. How is it possible for one woman to combat assimilation in the Orthodox Jewish world? Well in 1917, Sarah Schenirer single-handedly established a Jewish school focused on serving the community of Orthodox women and girls. For Schenirer, girls as well as boys should have an education, in both general and Judaic studies. Since this was a very radical idea in the 20th century, Schenirer’s efforts are especially remarkable. Therefore, providing a better understanding of her personal life, the contributions she made to society, and the personal attributes that led to her success is a useful approach to understanding how Schenirer preserved Orthodox values in the lives of Jewish women and girls.
His letter in return thanked her for her letter and at the end of his letter he wrote, “If you don’t already know what it means, I want you to look up the word ‘empathy’ in the dictionary. I believe we don’t have enough empathy in our world today, and it is up to your generation to change that.” Telling this event was useless because it doesn’t support nor clearly state his purpose. By not clearly establishing the purpose made it difficult as the reader in identifying what the purpose

Optimistic thinking fuels humbleness in the characters during the darkest of times. By creating two scenes with Tommy and his mother, Baxter is able to show that Tommy's fascination follows him home. This reinforces to the reader that his captivation for Miss Ferenczi is perpetual. This was a human being, dying. This was the only time there was going to be someone with those eyes and those ears and that way of breathing through her mouth and that way of building up right before a monster laugh with her eyebrows all raised and her nostrils flaring a little bit. This was the only time there was ever going to be that person, living in the world, and now that was almost over, and I couldn't deal with it” (Andrews Loc. 276). This excerpt shows the characterization of Greg. Also, it shows how his philosophies change over the course of the story as a dynamic character.
