Water pollution might occur when pollutants enter the water bodies and affect the aquatic organisms thus decreases the quality of water. When toxic substance enter the water bodies, it affecting the flora and also fauna in the aquatic environment. Water is the basic unit of life and the water cycle implies the pollution control. In Malaysia, water pollution is one of the major problem that comes from domestic and also industrial sewage including livestock farms, logging activity, road construction and also mining (WWF Malaysia, 2018). The reduction in river water quality is clear indicator of aquatic pollution. The study from (Muyibi, S. A., Ambali, A. R., & Eissa, G. S., 2008) state that 95% of water source in Malaysia comes from the inland river systems. Pollutants such as heavy metals, pesticides and herbicides are some of the pollutant that propose health hazards to aquatic life and human beings. Consumption of fish, prawn or cockles that being accumulated by heavy metal pollutants might result in human health disease. Herbicide and pesticide contamination may lead to chronic long-term illness and death in humans as well as impair the fertility and development of both humans and aquatic …show more content…

Drinking contaminated water can cause different types of cancers and also infertility and birth defects due to of the presence hazardous chemicals. Impoundments that have not been built or properly closed off have led to the death of many animals and also health issues in
Red Tide: How it affects Marine Life Red tide in Florida is a reoccurring problem that threatens marine life every year. Red tide in Florida waterways has a negative impact on marine life because it produces toxins that are harmful to marine species. It lessens the amount of oxygen in the water which ultimately leads to the migration and death of many different marine animals. Millions of dollars are poured into red tide research and prevention every year to help predict when and where a red tide is going to form.
If the fish are not healthy, that can adversely affect people. People could eat contaminated fish, or people cannot sell the fish because they are contaminated. Some fish may die from the pollution, leading to less fish for catching. Lower populations of fish and other marine life can also cause an imbalance in the food chain. Predators can also be harmed
Nutrient pollution coming from agricultural runoff and other fertilizers allows for the growth of species that upset the balance of the ecosystem such as Cattail, harmful algae bloom, and duckweed. The sulfur in the agricultural fertilizers leads to accumulation of toxic mercury in fish, birds, and mammals. Also, exotic animals or invasive species displaced native and threatens to disrupt the ecosystem balance. The purpose of this experiment is to determine how the water quality affects the Everglades ecosystem and how water pollution impacts different species. Urbanization is a big threat that contributes to poor water quality in water pollution.

Water Pollution is a huge environmental problem that has serious effects on marine habitats, animals, and water quality. BP1: The world's marine habitat has been getting worse because of how bad the pollution has gotten. “ Over 80% of marine pollution comes from land based activities “ (source 5 ). This quote explains how most of the water pollution is caused by human activity. “ Plastic litter does not degrade, can be expected to last in the oceans for hundreds of years “ ( source 6 ).
Pesticides and How it Works Abstract: A pest is "a plant or creature unfavorable to people or human concerns". Pesticide is Chemical or natural substance intended to slaughter or retard the development of pests that harm or meddle with the development of products, bushes, trees, timber and other vegetation coveted by people. Keywords: Antimicrobials, Antimicrobials, Herbicides Introduction:
The topic of this research paper will cover over Ocean Acidification and the effects on marine ecosystems. Ocean acidification is the decrease in pH levels of the Earth 's oceans, due to overbearing carbon dioxide being brought by the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide is drawn by seawater, where the chemical reactions take place, which minimize the pH levels in the ocean, the carbonate levels and the important calcium carbonate which these sea creatures need. When carbon dioxide disperses in this ocean, it causes the levels of acidity to rise towards the the surface, where most shell growth in marine animals have been stopped and has created the cause of reproductive disorders in multiple fish. Part of the problem with ocean acidification is human activity.
MAJOR PROBLEM: SINGAPORE WATER SHORTAGE ISSUE Short history of Singapore: Singapore gained independence on 9th August in 1965 from the merger with Malaysia. After its separation from Malaysia, Singapore faces major problem in many areas. Singapore is a small island of area size of 718.3km square. Given her limited land capacity, Singapore face a severe lack of natural resources such as water. In the ’60s and ’70s, Singapore was heavily reliant on imported water from Malaysia and faced urbanisation challenges such as polluted rivers, water shortages and widespread flooding.
While researching about how pollution affects sea turtles, we faced some issues on finding different types of pollution. As most people know, the plastic waste that is being dumped into the oceans and onto the beaches is becoming a main food source for sea turtles. When sea turtles see this trash, they consume the plastic causing death or severe sickness which has caused this species to become endangered. They also get tangled with the plastic in the ocean restricting them from normal movement and function. During our research, we found that there are more types of pollution affecting sea turtles than just plastic waste in the ocean.
Marine pollution such as presence of organic matter in the ocean can result in the condition known as hypoxia or oxygen depletion and this can have adverse effect on the marine life including plant and animals and fish. Death of these fish can result in loss of millions of US dollars that are generate from the fishing industry. Marine pollution can also result in presence of foul smell resulting from the decomposing sewage being directed to the ocean and this has the effects to hinder recreational activities taking place in the sea as well as cause discomfort and breathing problem to the surrounding population (Laura, 11).marine pollution can also result in danger to human health. The human swimmers and water sport lovers can become endangered by swimming in the polluted marine waters (Laura,
Water pollution is a serious issue as not only is water the most precious natural resource, but all sources of water support life that is very necessary for the survival of the planet. Water pollution destroys life and ecology and such damage is irreparable. Those who are still not serious about water pollution must also remember that the pollutants present in water not only destroy the life in the rivers and oceans, but also affect our food chain. Many people have the wrong notion that since they are not disposing the pollutants in the water they are not to blame. These people forget that 70% of the earth is covered by water, and any activity on the land can wash to the seas and oceans.
LITERATURE REVIEW What is water pollution? As the country is becoming more and more populated, the demands for social services have increased significantly. This has led to an increase of the pollution in many developing towns such as Ga-kgapane. The most disturbing and problematic forms of pollution in Ga-kgapane is the pollution of the natural streams. Water pollution is when there is a build of one or more substances in water to such an extent that it causes problems for animals or plants.
In this essay, the discussion will point to Nile contamination as a controversial issue and highlight some health problems which occur as consequences of using polluted water in Egypt. Likewise, the essay will raise some scientific methods to determine the percentage of heavy metal in water supported by example. Then it will suggest some chemical technical solutions to reduce the percentage of heavy metals in Nile and reuse it again for many purposes.
