During the Colonial Times weapons such as muskets, rifles, and tomahawks were used and improved for killing.
The first basic weapon that was used during colonial times was the tomahawk. They originated from the Algonquian Indian tribe. Tomahawks are hatchets with an axe blade and a solid pole. The bayonet was a slightly more advanced weapon than the tomahawk. They originated as a hunting weapon that may have been helpful to hunters if a shot was missed. They were fifteen to thirty inches in length and looked like long-handled knives. The weapon was usually put on the end of a gun for hand to hand combat and is thought to be more painful than a bullet. The bayonet does not pierce your body completely, it has a triangular shape that tears the flesh off. There are two main types of bayonets, the plug and the socket. The plug bayonet was the original model that had to be replaced with the socket bayonet because it stopped the gun from firing. The socket bayonet secured more firmly into the gun and had to match accurately with the gun barrel’s size. Although, the bayonet was usually used as a fighting weapon it was sometimes used as a candle holder, a convenient skewer for roasting meat, and a digging

Snyder first asked him to leave. Instead, Taukitoku fired the gun through the back porch. These events are notable because they led up to Snyder hitting Taukitoku on the side of the head with a shovel. The court’s depiction labeled the it as a “glancing blow,” or in other words, Taukitoku was hit from an angle and not necessarily at full force.

The French Revolution had ignited new conflicts between Great Britain, France, and the United States. The new American government, realizing the need to prepare for war, began to rearm. The War Department issued contracts for the manufacture of 10,000 muskets. Whitney, who had never made a gun in his life, obtained a contract in January 1798 to deliver 10,000 to 15,000 muskets in 1800. He had not mentioned interchangeable parts at that time.

In modern society, guns are seen as a form of control. Those who have guns are able to overpower those who do not. This trend was set when guns were first invented and has stayed the same throughout history. The one place where guns are not a symbol of power and control is in literature, specifically “The Old Gun” and Hamilton. In Mo Yan’s short story “The Old Gun”, the protagonist is a hungry boy who does not even know how to use the titular firearm.
In colonial America, the citizens did not know exactly what they wanted for their government. The colonists knew they didn’t want their lives to be like they had been in England. They were open to ideas; they did not know what would work and what wouldn’t. The colonists knew that trial and error was the best idea at the time. The democratic and undemocratic features of colonial America were very apparent in that democracy as it was a work in progress.
During the Elizabethan Era, weapons were as common as the cloud, however the distribution in quality was separated by monetary values. The rich, upper class, nobles were well taught, and carried along with them weapons that suited their image. The rapier, for example, as mentioned by Bull ”Are the underlying source of nobles” (pg 72.) However, at the opposite end of the spectrum lies the dagger. By the time I was four, I was pretty good with Dad's pistol, a big black sixshot revolver, and could hit five out of six beer bottles at thirty paces. I'd hold the gun with both hands, sight down the barrel, and squeeze the trigger slowly and smoothly until, with a loud clap, the gun kicked and the bottle exploded. It was fun. Dad said my sharpshooting would come in handy if the feds ever surrounded us.” This indicates that the father cared about their safety by teaching them at a tender age how to survive or defend themselves if there were ever on there own.
The Second Amendment states that one has the right to bear arms. This right can be taken away from one when they do some sort of crime that goes against this and gets their right taken away from them. Around 3 million americans carry a gun with they all the time with a concealed weapons permit. That number is 20% out of the 15 million americans that have a concealed weapons permit. We should not get rid of the right to carry a concealed weapon though there are exceptions depending on the person and their history.
"In 1990, handguns were used to kill approximately 48 people in Japan, 8 in Great Britain, 34 in Switzerland, 52 in Canada, 58 in Israel, 42 in West Germany and 10,728 in the United States”. For many years, America has been regarded as one of the world’s most perilous and ferocious countries in the world. The death rate caused by active gun shooters in the US is extraordinary: “since 1968, more Americans have died from gunfire than died in … all the wars of this country 's history”. Hence why public ownership of guns should be abolished in the USA. Can you imagine to what extent the death rate in America has increased by now?
