Ms.Hemlata Chelawat, Hitesh Chelawat & Dr. Anil Kothari in their study titled “Weather Derivatives -‘A tool for Agri –Risk Management’ (2012)” tried to examined the need for hedging the agricultural sector against weather risk .The study highlighted the major issues like how to assess the drawbacks of agriculture insurance in India and the reason for its failure, also to examined the feasibility of rainfall derivatives as a risk management tool for Indian agricultural sector and also construed the use of various type of derivatives contracts in agriculture sector .In the study they found that crop insurance has proved very expensive for the farmer and it has been very heavily subsidized in comparability weather derivative can serve as an effective …show more content…
Another study conducted by Dr.E.V.P.A.S. Pallavi titled,” Challenges to Weather Derivatives Instruments in India” (2015). This study examines the challenges to weather derivatives instruments in India. This study further finds that in 2010 due to uncertain global weather condition many business and industries are affected especially commodities. Anil K. Sharma &Ashutosh Vashisht conducted a research study titled, “ Weather Derivatives: Risk Hedging prospects for agriculture and power sector in India” in the journal of Risk Finance (March 2007). They examined that the effectiveness of weather derivatives as a risk management tool in Indian agriculture sector and inferred that the appropriate use of weather derivative may be more economical way of managing the volume related weather risk in developing countries like India. Yet another study conducted by Gurdev Singh titled, “ Crop Insurance In India” (2010) .The paper review the dependence of Indian agriculture on ambiguous rain. The study observed that the farmer sense different risk, like production risk which associated to various crop enterprises and marketing risk for distinct agro climatic regions and

Many people are quick to jump to conclusions on people 's personalities due to their appearance and their backstories. The townspeople of Hillsboro makes assumptions of Henry Drummond by saying that he is a horrible agnostic, they even went as far by calling him “the devil” and attempt to restrict him from entering the town just because of the stories they heard about him. In Lawrence and Lee 's Inherit The Wind, it is shown that Henry is actually a praiseworthy character throughout the play even though the townspeople labels him as a terrible person. Throughout the play, he is a strong advocate for the freedom of thought even when opposed by many, all his motives had intelligence behind it, and shows respect and stands up for Matthew
In the movie, Even the Rain, I was very furious the whole entire time. I am from a first world country. I have never struggled my entire life. I live in a 3,000 square foot home with my father, dog, and brother. We have hoses, showers, sinks, a well, sprinklers, and many other items at my house that produce water.
A disaster is anything that causes damages to something or takes one 's life. Most disasters can be avoided, like car accidents, spills, injuries and so on. Natural disasters on the other hand, con not be avoided but prepared for. Many Puerto Ricans were affected by a disaster than cannot be avoided, a hurricane. The island of Puerto Rico faced a category 4 hurricane that demolished many houses and destroyed much of our wildlife.
Imagine if all of Florida disappeared under the water. Millions of people would need to migrate up to other states, likely causing population issues in some places, and the culprit of the disappearance: Humans. More specifically, climate change caused by humans. Climate change is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, and that makes the atmosphere trap heat from the sun in our atmosphere. This causes the global temperature to slowly increase.
Karla Elizondo Mr. Pierce ENG 1013 December 4, 2016 Analysis of There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury As we advance in technology we seem to have a fear of replacement, causing us to worry and think about our own future. Throughout the years we can see how technology has made our lives easier, yet it can’t take charge on its own. Ray Bradbury’s Short Story ‘There will come soft rain’ was written in his perspective in how things would be in August 4th 2026 as he repeatedly mentioned. This Story takes place in a radioactive town in Allendale, California, inside the only house that remained after a nuclear bomb incident has taken all the human life.
We all continue to live in a world surrounded by varyng forms of art, music, painting, literature, and all these are results of creative human activity in which materials are formed to show an idea or a thought of communication. I believe arts are meant to aid in understanding our past, describe the present and predict the future. “The Weather Project” by Olafur Eliasson managed to create an interesting presentation of the weather. The exposition seems to initiate an impressive tension between the city and nature. The room is encircled in natural elements sun, mist, light and by introducing these natural elements Ellison seems to persuade viewers to entirely appear themselve in the space and the exhibition.
The Earth is melting, and people need to help. Climate change is a regular thing that happens on Earth, but recently, it has changed drastically. " Since 1880, Earth’s average temperature has increased by about 0.8 degrees Celsius. (BGE) This may not seem like much, but scientists are worried.
“The man who has everything figured out is a fool...it takes a smart fella to say, ‘I don’t know the answer’ ” (Lawrence and Lee 55). This quote was stated by Henry Drummond, a protagonist in the play Inherit the Wind, written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. The quote is ironic because Drummond is stating that although it is important to know the truth behind something, it is just as important to know when an individual is wrong. In the play, one learns how the surface of things never truly reveals how they really are.
Climate change is an irreversible consequence of the damage we do to our Earth. If we do not change our ways, the global temperature will swell, causing an unchangeable series of events, consecrating detriments onto all the existence upon Earth. In only about 140 years, the average global temperature has increased 0.8 degrees celsius, and the ramification is the irreparable destruction of the place where we and millions of other species live. The most important consequence of climate change is the global increase in temperature and how that is affecting various animal species all over the Earth, the health of humans, and the rapid rise of sea level.
Life As A Meteorologist 1 Weather is all around us all of the time. We feel it, see it, and sometimes hear it. Think of all of the amazing things that the weather does each day. When you turn on the television to see if you’re able to go fishing this weekend or if you need to take a jacket, the person on the screen will most likely be a meteorologist. A meteorologist is a person who studies the weather and forecasts it.
The impact of climate change is being felt throughout the world; however, the situation is more pronounced in developing countries because many households, social groups and regions have a limited capacity to adapt to climate variability and change (UNFCCC, 2007; IPCC 2007). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007:6) defined climate change as any change in climate over time, whether due to natural variability or as a result of human activity. The (UNFCCC 2007) espoused that agricultural production on the African continent relies primarily on rainfall. As such, any interruption in rainfall pattern and intensity will adversely affect the poor, predominantly the smallholder farmers (ibid).
They argued that the crop failures due to natural disasters often result in high food prices, increased demand to deal with uncertainties. The decline in purchasing power affects the poor and those who are in trouble by bad weather to become food insecure (Lin and Yang 2000, cited in Galunde,
Weathering and erosion are two processes that sort of shape Earth’s ground and rocks. Weathering is either a mechanical or chemical process that breaks down or shapes rocks, while erosion transports the leftovers of weathering, away. Understanding these processes helps us understand the way lakes, rivers, mountains, shorelines, canyons, and all sorts of other things were formed. For example the Grand Canyon was formed by erosion created from the Colorado River. It is very important to understand how these forces occur to understand the subject completely.
The Storm Lightning crashes overhead as I race back into the house, dripping wet. I was just returning back from an adventure in the woods. The storm was unexpected, even the forecasters had never expected it. Luckily, I managed to make it back inside safely.
