Background of the Problem
1. Marriage, Wedding & Nuptial
At a glance, the words “Marriage, Wedding & Nuptial” convey the same message, but they aren’t! Marriage is a rarely used term which refers to a “relationship which is continually redefined by spouses and is potentially crucial to their overall experience of family life” (Pimentel, 2000), whereas Wedding refers to a ceremony which lasts for a day. Nuptial is merely an adjective symbolizing marriage, but quite popular these days.
The words have lost their essence time after time, so has the concept of marriage.

Some can argue that these are for the rich. But today’s marketing trend is such that no matter you fall into debt but you must take a grand wedding to feed the eyes. The big question is whether this can be considered ethical marketing. Page | 13

Weddings are creating sorrow than happiness. It’s important for couples to be financially stable than to fund money to this industry (Keyishian, 2012). Mostly brides spend higher than grooms because they start obsessing over their weddings even before they select their groom! (New York Times), (Shannon, 2013). But women should be smart enough not to “start their marriage off in debt up to your ears” (Sydney 2013)
A survey research by Jasondress (2014) with 1000 brides concludes that 82% of brides regret their wedding dress over another one. Even though she spends millions on her dress, she ends up with Cognitive Dissonance! Why this need does never rests? Every woman deserves a memorable wedding, but what need and characteristics makes her to go for extreme wedding expenditures knowing the post-wedding consequences.
