The psychology Wendell Johnson executed a research with 22 orphan children, with the aim of finding out the reasons of why children stuttering. Half of the children were stutter and the other half were considered with perfect speaking. He mixed the children and then he split them in two groups. He used to encourage one of the group (whether were stutterers or not) by saying that everything is going to be fine and that they will overcome the stuttering. however, with the other group of children, he used to punish them and said to them that they should not speak if they are not going to speak properly. Throughout the time the children began to be affected and the results were manifested. Some of the orphan children were traumatised and with
This particular orphanage was severely disciplined the children for both, major and minor behaviors. Their disciplinary actions included beatings, stress positions, and even partial drownings in sinks full of water.
The holocaust for a child “There were gasps and moans, rattling coughs, and short piercing cries. And the ever present stench of unwashed body’s, disease and death.” (Lazan 1). said Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a holocaust victim. This experience and many others like this happened during a time period called the Holocaust.
Children are not mature enough to be persecuted. Children are young, and we do not know what is in their mind sets. They can do crazy stuff. Ishmael craved marijuana, when he wanted it badly he would roll a sheet of paper and smoke it. Ishmael says in the book,” I craved cocaine and marijuana so badly that I would roll a plain sheet of paper and smoke it”.
Parents and children today might consider that cruel or harsh, but it wasn’t an uncommon practice and it seemed to influence children in those years to not be

Life is composed of a bunch of different events, some great and some not so good. For all of the orphans in the world, most of the events in their life fall into the not so good category. Imagine losing your parents and being put into a system you have no control of. In, The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, she explains the how the system The Children’s Aid Society set up worked.
This led to the death of many young children in
Everyone is raised differently from the minute they are born. These differences range from small to extreme actions. There are little things like learning how to read or bigger things like being raised to believe in a higher power. Some children are disciplined by word or with a physical action. Everything varies from the very start.
The beatings and threats belittled the children and instilled them with continuous fear that would stay with them for the rest of their lives. Saul and many other children became very quiet and distant, trusting nobody because they were scared. All throughout Saul's life, there were many things he believed he could not do because of how he was treated at school. In the future, this stopped Saul from reaching his full potential, which dramatically changed his entire
Learning a Life Lesson Reading A Long Way Gone, a book about child soldiers, in Sierra Leone during the 1990’s made me feel disgusted because of the treatment of the young children. Reading about the most disturbing sequence in life, dealing with children my age or under made me realize how much life means. I could not imagine ever going through anything that will determine my life well-being. This made me look forward to more in life and appreciate the life I do live, because everyone doesn't have it like I do.
In the short story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, a cruel tradition occurs in towns across the nation. Every year, the town gathers and at random chooses a head of the household and a member of that family to be stoned to death. Dave Hutchinson’s life is changed forever when his mother and father, Bill and Tessie Hutchinson, are chosen in the lottery. All the children in the town will grow up to experience different issues with their health and with different perspectives on if the lottery is right or wrong, with Dave at a more of a disadvantage as he was directly affects by the lottery.
It discovered man’s inhumanity to man. The guards and prisoners were cruel to others, especially the new prisoners. The punishments were unreasonably harsh, even to tiny faults. Finally, men do not care how old, weak or strong someone is, resulting in the children picking up mean and harsh habits towards
There was a strong correlation between the perceptions of children and how they were disciplined. Since children during the 16th century were viewed as sinners who needed to be fixed through education and strict discipline, parents would harshly control their children through threats and beatings. As seen in Doc 1C and Doc 2C, children were “sharply taunted, so cruelly threatened...sometimes with pinches and bobs” (Doc 1C) and often “cast [on] the ground and spurned and kicked” (Doc 2C). The circumstances children had to undergo were jarring and savage. Children, in return, viewed their parents as their masters whom they must obey.
This relationship with their parents can be easily broken due to multiple years of constant banter on the children. The miserable ending is that the children do not even know that the brainwashing has even happened. The children are naïve because they were punished if they did not obey the nuns and priests. In their communities, the children became adults after they left the residential school, had trouble adjusting to the indigenous ways of life. Survivors often could not develop bonds or trust their elders.
Zienab Assaad One topic I strongly believe in is that children should not get abused , for any reason. It can ruin lives and it can be seen in persons of all ages. People ,as a whole is also affected by child abuse both in bad and good ways. In this essay I will say some of the results of this violent act on people as well as our culture.
