I believe that the colonists were justified in revolting against the government. The actions they took were extremely upsetting. The Proclamation of 1763. Doesn’t sound too bad, does it? It was. King George III decided, “Ya know what? The natives and the colonists are fighting way too much, let’s try this: None of my people can cross the Appalachian mountains, and none of the natives can cross into our side. They stay West, we stay East.” Great idea! Nobody fights, nobody kills. But there was a flaw in his plan. The natives got way more land than the colonists did. One major reason the British came to America was to have more land, which gives them more money, and by making this border, the colonists can’t expand. Which means they can’t have
I disagree with you. I believe that the colonists were not justified in resisting the British policies after the French and Indian War. As you stated, a country has a right to tax its own people and to enforce laws. Do you not agree then that it was okay for the colonists to have to be taxed too, since they had moved from England to America to live as British citizens? The colonists desired to be treated like every other British citizen, but at the same time, they did not think it was fair for them to pay taxes.
In my opinion, this would’ve just caused more conflict with the Natives. If the colonist would have shared the land with the Natives and created a peace treaty all the conflict would end and they could live in
After years and years of struggle, they finally revolted and took part in something this nation could never forget. It was something they thought which was well-deserved, although everyone was entitled to their own opinions. Were the colonists justified, or had valid reasons, in declaring their
The colonists ' response were reasonable because the colonists only peacefully rebelled, protested, and wrote documents. First, the British violated the colonists ' freedom of movement through the proclamation of 1763. The proclamation was set to stop the colonists from expanding to the west of North America. To this violation, the colonists did
At a time when the British Monarchy was establishing itself as the cornerstone of the emerging and dynamic British Constitution, and all British subjects, including those in the North American Colonies, were subjects of the Crown, Price provided the theoretical foundation to justify, and even advocate, the actions of the colonists in severing their ties with Britain. This was a very dangerous thing to do, he was after all lending support to those who were seen by most people as treacherous. However, although he was heavily criticized and was, at one time, fearful of his life, Price resolutely supported the colonists believing that their cause was justified and that the British Government, and the King no less, were guilty of denying these
The Indian Removal Act and the Mexican War were both drastic times in history where many lives were lost for reasons many people do not understand. North Americas colonization is the main reason for conflict between white settlers and Native Americans. The Proclamation of 1763 stated that the colonists had to stay east of the Appalachian Mountains, and the land west of the Appalachian Mountains was for the Native Americans. By the 1800’s, this eventually caused overcrowding in the cities and many people wanted to move to the Native Americans land.
Another conflict there was with the Native Americans and the colonists. Was because more British colonists would move to North America and they would take some north land so they could stay. The Native Americans weren’t happy because the colonist would be taking their land. After taking north land, the British colonies were settle they want the land owners leave the
This was a misuse of power because Great Britain was taking advantage of the colonists and was forcing them to follow these unjust laws and pointless
The only problem now was populating the middle. A daunting task, considering the fact that there were already inhabitants there, people who were rightfully there from the start, and wanted nothing to do with white settlers. Being a majour power force, Americans seem to relish the idea of ‘survival of the fittest’. If they had power to do it, and you
The Native Americans and english settlers don’t have the best past together. We have all heard the stories of the bloody battles between the proud Native Americans and the white Americans. There is no excuse to how we treated this group of people who were on this land first, we forced them out of there areas and would slaughter them if they wouldn’t leave. It is one of the most disturbing times in American history, and something that should never be repeated again.
The American Revolution was, to date, the best event to happen on American soil, providing freedom and representation in government to the individuals who fought so hard for it. France and Spain aided our cause, helping this group of brave colonists to defeat the strongest army in the world. But, there is a question still not answered; were the colonists justified in breaking away from Britain? The American colonists were justified in breaking away from the British because there was taxation without representation, they had no freedom, and the British government violated their individual British rights. I believe the American colonists were justified for breaking away from Britain because there was taxation without representation.
Britain was forcing the colonists to house the British soldiers and there was no compensation. The British government also violated the colonist’s rights by restricting trade by preventing other nations from purchasing products form the North American colonial market. Obviously, the Founding Fathers were justified in rebelling because the British government was taking advantage of the colonists. Parliament applied various taxes, and forced the colonists to house British soldiers which violated the rights of the colonists.
The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.
During the Colonial Era (1492-1763), colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain; due to the inequitable Stamp Act, the insufferable British oppression, and the perceived tyranny of King George III, the king of Great Britain, however, the colonists were unjustified in some of their actions. In Colonial America, colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain, because the Stamp Act was unfair and viewed as punishment. Because of the war, Britain had no other choice but to tax the colonists to pay for the debt. For example, according to document 2, the author states that the act was not only for trade but for “the single purpose of levying money.”
However, it is wrong to fully blame the colonists because they were getting unfair treatment from the British already with taxes. It was merely a protest. “...great number of heavy clubs and snowballs being thrown at them, by which all of our lives were in imminent danger, some persons at the same time calling out, damn your bloods-why don’t you fire.” (Document B) The colonists are seen here provoking the soldiers with their protests, and although it may have been a cause leading to a terrifying effect, it still doesn’t change the fact that the British Soldiers had reacted with violence
