Metro Manila is the capital of the Republic of the Philippines and also known as the National Capital Region (NCR). It is the largest among the three metropolitan areas in the nation with many characteristics that are both positive and negative. This metropolitan is made up of 16 cities, home to over twenty-four million people (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2015).. The abundance of people cause problems such as poverty, traffic, pollution, and much more. Despite all the problems, there are many things to appreciate about Metro Manila including the entertainment, fashion, festivity, action, and people. The Metropolitan is known to be the billboard capital of the world as the large advertisements cover most of the buildings (Philippine Star, 2011). While the survey results show that the preference goes toward foreign products and techniques, many respondents acknowledge what is truly Filipino and embrace that Metro Manila is “almost a perfect mix between western and eastern.” Westernization to a certain extent is not necessarily bad in itself. It only takes a negative toll on the nation when it goes against what is native and dilutes culture, making it almost nonexistent. “I do enjoy the technology and the education from USA that they gave us in order for us to become more civilized. They did provide the resources for us to be able to live better.
