Dwight David Eisenhower is considered one of the many that must be remembered when it comes to United States history. In his life, he was able to accomplish many things. He was a supreme commander in Europe during World War II and also the thirty-fourth president of the United States of America. Dwight Eisenhower stood as an idolized president to the Republican party because of what he was able to accomplish during his two terms and how well he represented the group. Dwight David Eisenhower was able to accomplish many things during his lifetime, but his most important achievements were emplacing the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, authorizing the creation of NASA, and ending the Korean War.

During Eisenhower’s presidency, there was a space-age race occurring between the United States and the Soviet Union. In an article by Yanek Mieczkowski, it discusses how, “In a critical Cold War moment, Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidency suddenly changed when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the world's first satellite.” At this point, America was losing in the space age race against the Soviet Union, which hurt Eisenhower and the United States’ pride.
