George Washington
George Washington was born on February 22, 1732, in Westmoreland County, Virginia. George was homeschooled and studied with the local church. He also became a schoolmaster in practical math, Latin, geography, and english. When George was in his early teens, he had mastered tobacco, surveying, colonial culture, and stock raising “George Washington.” When he was eleven his father Augustine Washington had died. Three achievements that are still talked about today are that George was a military general, was the first president, and believed to have wooden teeth.
One achievement that George accomplished in his life was that he was a military general for the U.S. Even though he had lost more wars than he had won, the most famous battle he fought was The Revolutionary War. On December 25, 1776, George Washington had a plan to cross the Delaware river at night. The next morning he conducted a surprise attack against the Hessian forces in Trenton, New Jersey. He was also known as Father of His Country. George was elected president in 1789 and served two terms. He was the only president to not stay in the White House. He was involved in the making of the first 10 amendments, also known as The Bill of Rights on September 25, 1789. George Washington made Thanksgiving a national holiday on November 26th. On May 31, 1790, the first law The Copyright Act was signed. This law was to protect the authors of any maps, books, charts that have already been printed. The bill for the first national bank was signed on February 25, 1791. While he was president he lead 12,950 troops into the battlefield to stop the Whiskey rebellion in 1794.
