Born in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky, on February 12, 1809 (Biography.com), Lincoln grew up on the western frontier in Kentucky and Indiana. Even though he was not born into to a extremely rich family, Lincoln made a considerable amount of achievements that shaped him. He was self-educated because his father felt it was a waste of time for him to go to school and would be better if he spent his time helping on the farm.
