This speech is a great example of rhetoric with its context, audience, purpose, message, means of delivery, and timing.
The Spanish American war involved both the Spanish and the Americans. It started by America wanting to buy Cuba from Spain. The Spanish responded harshly to this claim. While American interest in Cuba grew, Cubans tried and tried again to become independent from Spain. Some Americans were happy about the sudden rebuttal and others wanted the United States to support Spain in order to keep their investments.
Throughout history there have been many wars in which different parties were fighting for either freedom or territory and in the Spanish American War both Spain and the United States were in conflict for both. The Spanish American War began in April 1898 and ended August 1898 which was a brief rivalry between Spain and the United States that led to the death of three hundred and seventy-nine Americans . The United States found themselves intervening in Cuba’s fight for independence against Spain after President McKinley and the queen of Spain tried their best to keep a war from even happening. This has changed the countries future which some may say that it was a worthy entity or others thought it was a bad thing. As a result, they did indeed
Both Spain and the United States were truly impacted by the war because the war happened unexpectedly. The Spanish-American War was not started by one event alone, but with the accumulation many events which caused the war to explode. It started with the event surrounding USS Maine, was a "second class" battleship built up for the U.S. Navy. Spain sent General “Butcher” Weyler to control the situation in Cuba, so America sent the navy battleship called
According to Frontline, 81,936 Afghanistan civilians died from an aerial bombardment by America. This is way too many innocent people are dying. The other example would be war involving drugs. Mexican drug war is a war battled against Mexican Mafia and the government.
The war itself had claimed about 3000 deaths of Americans by killings and diseases. Finally, the war reduced Spain to a minor power by losing its status as a major imperial power to the Unites States. Clearly, United States through the Platt Amendment allowed substantial determination
The Spanish-American war had many factors that caused it such as the rebellion in Cuba and Yellow Journalism, and it had many effects after the battles in the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. The attack wasn’t exactly a long attack; the U.S. wasn’t prepared, for it only lasted from 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The Japanese surprised us; we didn’t even know what was coming. According to Pearl Harbor-the Bombing Facts, “A U.S. Army private who noticed the large flight of planes on his radar screen was told to ignore them because a flight of B-17’s from the Continental U.S. was expected at the time.” Proof of how genocidal it was is how many U.S. servicemen died- 2,335 of them(Pearl Harbor).

The United States Government was allied with the Contras, despite their record of human rights infringements, in order to take down the communist party, the Sandinistas. The Contras were allied with United States to eliminate the Sandinista Government for the betterment of Nicaragua. The Sandinistas opposed both the United States and the Contras because they had a previous disposition to the United states and they felt that socialistic policies was the best way to develop Nicaragua. The current settings of the Nicaraguan Revolution, was that of turmoil and unrest in Central America with multiple countries such as Cuba turning to Communism as a new type of government.

For economic and strategic reasons, the United States had the public’s support of this war. The US people embraced the idea of freeing an oppressed population of people controlled by Spain. The United States was also interested in the sugar industry in Cuba. Cuba actually traded more with the United States than with Spain.
Spanish-American war of 1896, Cuba was the last remaining colony of Spain in the new world. Cuban sugar cane workers were rebelling because of poverty and bad conditions. William Randolph Hearst, a sensationalist reporter who was investigating the war, sent an artist to Cuba to sketch the action. Unfortunately for him, nothing violent was happening, so Hearst exaggerated the truth. Pressured into war the president sends the Maine to harbor, but it suddenly exploded.
The Monroe Doctrine. The Panama Canal. The Spanish-American War. All these and more are examples of events that happened with in the 1898-1919 era. Many historians today are confused on whether these times showed the U.S. as a country of idealism or realism.
