“The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby. People say that the Great Gatsby is one of his greatest accomplishments of his writing. Throughout this paper I am going to talk about Scott's life and his accomplishments. Scott was a great author, but he let alcohol control his life. Mollie and Edward Fitzgerald had two daughters before Scott was born. In 1896 tragedy struck the Fitzgerald family, the influenza epidemic took the lives of their one and three year old daughters. Even tho they lost two beautiful daughter they were blessed with a baby boy only a few months after their deaths. They had Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald on September 24,1896 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Due to the loss of his sisters, Scott's mom was very protective over him. This overprotective manner have caused a lot of issues between his mother and him. In 1898 Scott's father's Wicker Furniture business was completely falling apart, so he had no other choice but to close it down. …show more content…

The Evil Eye become such a great hit that he got elected to become secretary of the the Triangle Club for the following year. Junior year was a terrible year because he had to make up 3 classes that he had failed. Once again his poor grades and failing classes made him not allowed to tour with the Triangle Club and was not allowed to be secretary. To make junior year even worse he had came down with malaria which was common due to all the swamps around the area. Scott became so sick that he couldn't finish his junior year, he left his junior year to recover. The University was generous enough and said he could repeat junior year. That would mean that he would have to make up those three out six classes he failed before he got
