Some characters will protest there friends and family at all cost Some animals bond/trust with each other by protecting each other. Similar to some characters in Angela Tompson’s book The Hate U Give. If you protect them in any way they will trust you in some way. Big Mav is Starrs, Sevens, and Sekanis dad. He used to work for the biggest gang in garden heights called the king lords. Mav grew up with the leader of the king lords King. They used to be really close but when Big Mav wanted to leave because he started a family. But King wouldn't let him unless Mav did something for him. He took the blame for King and he went to jail for it. Big Mav did three years in a federal prison to get out of the gang. Even after that they didn't get along. …show more content…

Starr would protect you and put her life in danger for her closest friends and her family. Five weeks after Khalil's death Starr went on live television and did what she calls dry snitching on the biggest gang member in garden heights just for people to see what the cop actually did. Eight weeks after his death, Star went and talked to the grand jury, “Three hours. That’s how long I was in the grand jury room”(337). She spent three hours just talking and answering questions just to prove that her friend was murdered and the cop should get charged. Big Mav did not hesitate to grab his gun and to go outside;”I shot at them fools”(318). Mav is not scared of anyone. Not even king. After King shot at their house Mav drove them to uncle Carlos's house. Him and Seven went back to protect their house.That proves that big mav will protect the things he loves and cares about at all cost no matter how dangerous it
