I have always thought of the Star Spangled Banner to be just a song that represents our country and troops. Now that I see the whole back story of the the beautiful poem it changed my entire perspective of the song. The Star Spangled Banner not only represents the Country that we live and the troops that die to keep us safe, but it represents the lives that got taken from the brave soldiers of 1812. Knowing that even though they were given a warning of the flag they stood up and said “no I choose to represent my country”. You never see people in this generation that would rather stay to themselves with WiFi, phones, video games, clothes, friends.
Many of the things Locke spoke of still affects today’s society. John was a social contrast theorists, which is a view that a person’s moral and political obligation are dependent on an agreement among them to form the society they live in which was given to them by equality. He did not only believe in equality in government but in religion too. John believed that religion
An astounding memorial, a piece of artwork, and a commemoration of all the Veterans who died or went missing is all shown in this text. What started as not even being considered Veterans soon transformed into creating a whole memorial in memory of them. The author’s word choice in the, “Always to Remember,” portion of the title symbolizes and recognizes the bravery and dedication the Vietnam Veterans had to fight for our country. For example, in the text it states how since many people were opposed to this war, “veterans were not honored as veterans of other wars has been.” This shows that since Americans were opposed to the army forces
I feel that with faith in God I remain vigilant to all things that can trap a man and cease his ability to perform for his family and others. I know what it is like not walking with the Lord and I never want to live like that again. We take Freedom in this country way to lightly, most people have never left the United States to truly appreciate our way of life and the freedoms we have. Family is all you have once the dust has settled on your life. I watched my father die alone and friendless at his end, begging for forgiveness for all his transgressions.
He went to Herat out of good faith. When he entered the battle he had no idea what he was up against, also he didn’t know if he was going to win. Knowing he had the faith and the dependence of the people Beowulf went into battel with Grendel. He risked his life to help others, even though the issue had nothing to do with him.
In the story, Beowulf refers to religion and how God has helped him win wars, "The fight would have ended straightaway if God had not guarded me.” Nowadays, we have the same values but they are not strong as in the past. Courage for example, sometimes we are afraid to act or defend a friend because we are afraid of the consequences. We are afraid of become a victim or being judged for our actions.
I am polite, humble, and respectful to others. I have a passion for helping others and making their life better. For that reason, I decided to become a Marauder Ambassador. By being an ambassador, I introduce freshmen and new students to the school campus. When I started school in the United States, an ambassador welcomed me and familiarized me with the school; therefore, I became a Marauder Ambassador to give back and serve the community that welcomed me when I came here.
I am honored to be amongst the meritorious students who are being considered for induction into the National Honors Society. Being an active member of this society has been something I have been looking forward to since middle school; having previous family members inducted, I regard acceptance to it a goal I must accomplish. I would be honored to be a member of this society which is known for benefiting others. These limitless opportunities of contributing to my community will help me grow as a person which will undoubtedly help me in my future career in the medical field and leave an impact on my fellow community members. The National Honors Society is an important organization made up of students who demonstrate leadership, service, character,
President Abraham Lincoln, in the Gettysburg Address, argues that all mankind should be treated equally. America should dedicate honor to the fallen soldiers and the soldiers living should be honored for the work they’ve done. He wants the soldiers unfinished work to be awarded because there were still soldiers fighting in war. He argues that freedom shouldn't be taken from. Lincoln says "
I have many personal values that I have maintained throughout middle school. These personal values have helped me get through middle school, and helped with many various things on my journey to middle school. My first personal value that I’ve maintained is my religion. This is a very important personal value to me, because it is what I believe in.
While the first-generation Puritans believed this, their offspring who knew nothing of the religious hardship back home would rather have personal indulgences, which puts strain on the Errand. Adding on to that, the idea of being a collective group changed into the Puritans becoming more focused on defining themselves away from the Church as seen with King Phillip’s War. The war represents a change with the second and third generation Puritans who needed new, secular, enemies to define them as told by Marone when he says “The Puritans groped back to the tried and true-they found terrible new enemies to define them” (Marone 33). The Puritans defining themselves through fighting the Natives in King Phillip’s war, totally undermines the Puritans’ original enemy of being eternally damned. Furthermore, the Puritan Dilemma of the conflict of old vs new impacted the Puritans’ view of nature, as seen with the Salem Witch Trials and how God was punishing them for straying from the Errand.
Education has always been a priority for him and with that he has chosen teaching as his profession. I feel I am qualified to be a part of this organization because of my dedication and hard work. Every day I follow the same routine.
They all had an option to be set free if they stated that they were not Christian but none of them did. They all died for their belief in the religion after being offered a way out. (Doc G) This information helps explain why the Christian religion took hold in ancient world. People that followed the Christian religion were open to helping anyone in need and would even take them into their homes.
(Esposito). During Akhenaten’s reign he only wanted to keep peace in the empire. The pharaoh refused to engage himself in war or war like activities. “I do not wish to learn the fundamentals of murder” (Mahfouz 32) When it came time for the pharaoh to learn how to fight with the other nobles children he refused to participate.
