Woyzeck is in army and he works as barber too. He talks to Andres, his friend about his visions which Andres is not able to see. He lives with Marie and has a child with her out of wedlock. Woyzeck also tries to make extra money by doing lowly job for captain and by taking part in medical experiment led by Doctor. In that experiment he should only be eating peas and not anything else. It causes Woyzeck to lose his mental health which is the reason why he sees those apocalyptic visions. Marie on the other hand is fed up with this and she slowly diverts herself towards Drum Major who ogles at her. While Woyzeck is not in home and is gone outside to work Drum Major comes to visit Marie. Marie yields to Drum Major and sleeps with him. Woyzeck
