Gorbachev and Reagan signed several treaties during Reagan 's second term and granted the production of nuclear arms in both countries. Relations with the Soviet Union improved, but Reagan still attacked Communists throughout the rest of the world. During his presidency, the United States also sent peacekeeping forces to Lebanon and bombed the terrorist-supporting country of Libya.
The President of the United States of America in the 1980’s was none other than Ronald Reagan. Reagan is often remembered for the idea of ‘Reaganomics’, which was a set of economic policies that Reagan used in the 1980’s in order to fix the economic issues at the time. The New Right Conservatives was a group of conservatives that was against the Soviets and wanted to make economic and foreign policy changes. Both Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush served as presidents of the United States of America during the late 20th century, from 1981-89 and 1989-93 respectively. Their presidencies covered the ending of the Cold War and the transition from a bipolar to a unipolar world. Reagan was quoted saying, “Government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem.” This statement opened up what was known then as Reaganomics. Reagan supported the supply-side economics, the theory that lower taxes will boost the economy as businesses and individuals invest their money.
From 1947-1991 the Cold War lasted between the United States and the Soviet Union. The two Administrations responsible for the victory over the Soviet Union in the Cold War are President Reagan and President Bush. President Reagan started his presidency in 1981, and after all his success while being president, he won re-election in 1985. Now, a key reason why the US remained successful with ending the Cold War after Reagan’s two terms was because in 1990 Reagan’s Vice President George H. W. Bush was elected President. This was a good turnout because Reagan and Bush shared a lot of the same ideas, so Bush was able to just pick up where Reagan left off.

If the US could not take up the burden the whole region was in danger of falling under communist roll.

The 1970’s was a time for radical change. Within the radical change was feminism, sex and sexuality, and drugs. Although this may not have been part of everyone’s lives, it was there, and it was prevalent. However, in 1970’s television none of this was talked about.
