“Without ambition one starts nothing. Without work one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.” From childhood mathematics has always been my subject of interest. One big reason behind this interest is that mathematics deals with structure, space, quantity and change, all close to reality. Mathematics when combined with analytical thinking brought about a revolution in the field of science called Computers. Computers being very practical are good at problem solving and pay attention to detail. This super power called ‘Computers’ aroused in me an ambition to excel in the field of Computer Science. Masters degree at your prestigious university would help me lay foundation for the fulfillment of my dream …show more content…
Apart from maintaining a good academic profile, I had also participated actively in many extra-curricular activities in my college. I have never neglected any opportunity for improvement. I always had immense liking towards English literature from childhood which motivated me to join ‘Speak Easy’, the literary club of my undergraduate college which conducted various activities in college like essay writing, debates, public speaking, role plays, group discussions etc. I presented a paper on ‘Google as a hacking tool’ at Quest, a national level technical symposium. I also presented a poster on ‘Cryptography’ at a national level technical fest. I contributed to the organization of many formal and informal events as a part of various fests held in my college and also actively participated in fests conducted by various colleges in my state. The event “RUSH HOUR”, a technical treasure hunt, which I organised as a part of Acumen IT-2013, the technical fest held by the IT department of my engineering college, where the participants had to decode a set of step-by-step technical clues which finally lead to the treasure, was a huge
The event was the YMCA event, and my sub-group and I worked at the station called, “Move it, Move it, Move it.” The YMCA event is at San Jose, where different age groups at the YMCA facility where they can come join the event that my team and I created. Family and their children can come enjoy the stations that the team had created. The stations were arts and craft, making pledges, games, and physical activity.
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
The standards of a Sterling Scholar, scholarship, citizenship and leadership have been exemplified in the way I have conducted my life through the following examples. I have never really excelled in academics. I believe learning the information is far more important than getting a good grade. Math, Science, and English are not my strong suits, but I’ve always loved working with computers. From a young age I’ve always been fascinated with technology and how it helps us advance as a society.
As a child I always desired to study math and science. There is just something about solving problems, and finding solutions that catches my attention. Learning about the world, and how it function is very interesting to me. These subjects have help keep me wondering what I could learn next, and the reason being that I am a scholar in my classes. One accomplishment that I am proud of is being on the A&B honor roll.
From a young age, my passion lay in my utter fascination with numbers and mathematical concepts. Whether I recalled sport stats or my teammates’ swim times to adding the total for the groceries we were purchasing, math has always been in my blood. Math problems are puzzles that need to be cracked, especially in calculus, with challenging and intriguing
Upon learning of the opportunity, I inspired my peers to volunteer 18 hours of our personal time to support the event. Furthermore, I initiated and led a joint-community project with the Warrant Officer Basic Course, donating funds a local charity specializing in assisting domestically abused victims.
As a young minority male with two African-born parents who received zero education, acceptations were high at a young age. When I was five years old I attended PS 156 elementary school. The school had poor academic grades and eventually shut down after receiving a F. I always managed to maintain mostly As and was consistently top of my classes. I loved school and hated to see it end. When I was in fourth grade I maintained a high grade even though it was sort of a middle school atmosphere.
This event was at the beginning of the year and was a fantastic way for me to become involved in a new activity which I will continue to attend and try to help out with for years to come. Volunteering my time to be able to make a day special for others was truly a memorable experience that I will carry with
1. “Nothing in life comes easy, if it does you should be suspicious” (222) 2. “Thinking about that moment was like peeling a scab off an almost healed wound” (9) 3. “They love to wave the red flag in the bullring, but you don’t have to react” (209) 4. “In any case, she refused to take the drug test and signed a paper for the termination of her parental rights to me instead” (137) 5.
Another constant feature in the lives of engineering students is the technical festival. Every year I volunteer with Konvolve, our college fest, and have worked tirelessly in making it a grand success. Conscientious of my moral duties, I’m actively involved with Rotaract, a non-profit service, helping my community and in turn the nation. Through sport and interaction, I continue to work with my friends and colleagues, bringing maturity to my role as a confidante and teammate. Furthermore, even at home my gregariousness has made me a very likable person, and often I’m considered the life of the party at family functions and formal
My educational goal is to earn a degree in Biology and Spanish from the University of California, Riverside, in hopes of getting a job inside the laboratory department at Kaiser. Based on labs that I have already done at the University, I found that I enjoy working in a similar setting. I would love to have the opportunity to shadow a connoisseur in a similar work environment, as it would be a valuable learning experience. I come from a low-income family in Oakland, California. The economic barrier that has restricted my family has prevented us from moving out from where we live.
Support: Eric Thomas, the author of the book ‘The Secret to Success’, once said about success that whatever paths taking us to success, at some point we all have to go through the boulevard of hard work. Example: If you want to achieve success, hard work and dedication are the second element after explicit plans. In addition, we had better take responsibility for our tasks. None can help us to fulfil our targets but ourselves, hence learning to bear responsibility is very essential.
My interests lies in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning and Data Mining and use these disciplines to contribute in the fields of science and business. The learning climate at University will teach me to think radically, boost my confidence and broaden my perspective. The Master’s program in Computer Science at the sound academic environment will help me achieve my true potential. It is therefore, just the right place that will prepare me with exceptional academic and professional skills and enhance my personal growth.
PERSONAL STATEMENT My personal objective is to use my knowledge, experience, and skills with the intention of securing a professional Career with an opportunity for challenges and career advancement while gaining knowledge of new skills and Expertise. I have taken up every chance I have had to learn about computers through theory and also do practicals for the theory learnt Computers have been an important future of the day to day life as they have influenced the rapid changes in my country in the recent years, Information technology has brought practical solutions for the already existing problems in the country , I believe that this Master’s degree will help me attain my personal fulfillment and also be able to benefit the country at large, being able to help transfer different systems from manual to computerized . Information technology is a distinct science from information system management, computer science, and computer engineering. IT focuses on meeting the needs of users through the creation, application, and management of computing technologies.
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
