It is hard to conclude for certain Adnan Syed’s innocence or guilt in this particular case. All of the evidence given seems to be very circumstantial or thin. For example, take Jay Wilds’ testimony. Much of the State’s case is reliant on this and his credibility as an eyewitness, yet they allow him to repeatedly change his recount of the story. In total, Wilds retells his account of what happens six different times and each time varying details start to shift. Even two of his friends from school recall him embellishing stories often so why should we wholeheartedly believe his recount of that day. In both of Wilds’ taped statements there is a period of time in the beginning of the interviews before the detectives even bother to turn the tape …show more content…
Everyone involved seems to be lying to some degree, maybe for some it was just their memory faulting, but throughout the story there is an air of secrecy. As if you aren’t being told exactly everything you need to understand what actually happened. It’s unlikely anyone will ever know exactly what happened now, but there might be a clearer picture if the police department had been less negligent about exploring other leads and suspects. Don is where they let down the most. Although he has a confirmed alibi for that day it seems suspect. Don claims he was covering a shift at a different Lenscrafters location, Hunt Valley, than he regularly worked at. His alibi was confirmed by the manager at his regular location, Owings Mills Mall, despite the fact that she had not actually seen him that day and she was also his mother. According to LensCrafters only the general manger of each location would have access to those employee files, which makes you wonder if Don spoke with his mother about confirming his alibi beforehand. He had a flimsy alibi, but Syed had no alibi and after discovering Hayes’ body Don was never contacted again by the police(2). To add to the questionable circumstances the manager at the Hunt Valley location was in a relationship with his mother, they had been living together since
Prideful blood In the Adnan syed case, it is clear that syed is guilty due to the cell phone records and the testimony of Pusateri, wilds and McClain letter. Although many may believe Adnan Syed is not responsible, in actuality he is liable for his crimes. The cell phone records provided by AT&T, Which was requested by the police, demonstrate clear evidence of Syed being guilty.
On the date of 03/08/2017 at about () hours I was dispatched to the address of 300 N 6th St (the Greybull Motel) in Greybull to a reported domestic violance situation. I was informed by dispatch that the reporting party was in the office of the motel at this time. Upon my arriavl at the above location I spoke with the reporting party, Donald MOFETT() who informed me that his girlfriend had struck him multiple times in the face, neck and shoulder. I observed that MOFETT 'S left eye apeared to be swollen, I also observed marks on the left side of his face, and on his right sholder. When I asked MOFETT what had happened prior to the incident he stated that himself and his girlfriend Montica ROMERO() had gotten a motel room to have some time away from her family that they are staying with, and that both parties had consumed alcohol.
On 5/25/16 at 9:40 PM, Integrity Associate (I/A) Nathan Govan (natgovan) notified Shift Supervisor Enmanuel Cabrera that he believe someone may have stolen his lunch. S/S Cabrera quickly gathered the information needed and walked over to the refrigerator at question to get the exact location where the he left his lunch. After, S/S Cabrera escorted I/ A Govan to H.R and he was given vendor bucks to get another lunch. I/
Even with Jay’s testimony, I don't believe that Adnan Syed should have been convicted of murder on such little evidence. The state’s motive for Adnan is based on Muslim stereotypes and no real evidence. They say that when Hae broke up with Adnan she besmirched his honor, forcing him to have to kill her to regain it. Adnan has shown many times that he doesn’t follow strict Muslim rules by dating multiple girls, partying, and even smoking marijuana.
There was not enough evidence to prove if Adnan was innocent or guilty. There were multiple people that said that Jay had Adnan’s phone but Adnan called Jay at least twice which means that Adnan would have had to use a payphone or borrow a phone. And supposedly Adnan was sitting in the best buy parking lot when he called Jay. Also in the time it took
Wayne Williams was stopped and questioned, to which he gave an alibi which turned out to be null and void since the address and phone number he gave did not exist. This caused a deeper investigation to insue. Including multiple polygraph tests which
Murder Case Against Adnan Syed In 1999, a murder case spiked the enthusiasm of the community of Baltimore, Maryland. Hae Min Lee was the victim of this unforgettable murder which brought together three main suspects: Adnan Syed, Jay Wilds, and Don; however, Don and Hae had only been together thirteen days prior to the murder. This rose suspicion in the case but for some reason was not analyzed as much as it should have been. Don did not have a solid alibi during that day, but he was thrown out the window.
There is a severe lack of physical evidence in this case (reliable and unreliable). In the Serial podcast, Koeing states that; “The most incriminating piece of physical evidence against Adnan Syed was…a palm print. On a map… police found it in the backseat
After listening to the podcast of the case, I’ve been convinced that Adnan Syed is not guilty and there should be more investigating done. Numerous
Syed is innocent based on the fact that Jay’s testimony was all over the place and not a reliable source. However, people say that Adnan is guilty. This makes sense because Jay talks about Adnan calling from outside of Best Buy by a telephone booth at 2:36. When in reality the very telephone Jay speaks of has no proof of existence. Laura Estrada Sandoval stated that “there was never any phones at Best Buy”(195).
Jay didn't mention this during his trial but he told Sarah that him and Adnan went to smoke weed that day. This was a big deal for both of them because how did Jay remember all of what Adnan did but yet he still lies about where he was. This shows me that Adnan Syed is not guilty because although Jay has his alibis and Adnan has his, Jay’s alibi Jenn was covering up for.him. She hid a lot of information from the police that could have possibly proved Adnan’s innocence
“I don 't remember what I ate for lunch three days ago.” “I took my dog to the Vet this morning and I don 't remember the time we left.” If no one remembers anything then therefore there is not enough evidence! Which means that there isn’t enough information to prove that Adnan Syed is
Adnan is Innocent Do you remember what you did on this day, exactly one week ago? You might remember some things about that day, or you might remember nothing. How about if I asked what you did 6 weeks ago on this day? Could you tell me?
Firstly, Jay was not afraid to lie in order to get out of punishment. In Jay’s second interview, detective McGillivray pointed out the lies Jay had told them so far and asked him why he lied about the location of Hae’s murder. Jay responded by saying that he was worried about camera’s that spotted him. The detective followed up by asking if he did not commit the murder why was he worried. To that Jay responded he was “associated”.
McClain claims that she was with Syed at the time of the murder, and she provided letters and affidavits to support her story. The testimony of Jay was unreliable and inconsistent, while Asia McClain's testimony was consistent and supported by physical evidence. The evidence against Adnan is largely circumstantial therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that Adnan Syed is not guilty of the
