Doing service for others is an important activity that everyone should embrace and participate in, as they are growing up. Fortunately, I was able to participate in this activity, this eighth-grade year. Yes, at first, I thought that this was going to be a long and tiresome year, and I thought this service project was going to be absolutely dreadful. Obviously, I thought wrong. This project was actually enjoyable and I learned a lot from it!
These past months I completed lots of service for both my household and the community, and it was great! For community service I mainly helped out Mr. Flores in the beginning of this project. I helped out Mr. Flores by coming in around 7:30 in the morning and writing lesson plans on the board, cleaning

I learned that service shouldn’t be seen as some sort of chore or burden that we are called to do each day, yet it should be seen as an amazing opportunity we all can participate in. While feeding the homeless, I realized how important it is to be there for others, especially those who really need it. I also really enjoyed helping those people. It not only made me feel good about myself, but it made me feel good knowing that I am making a difference in these people's lives. Yes, there were challenges to this project that took some time. My main challenge was probably having the motivation to go in and do service in the morning for Mr. Flores. This was hard because in the mornings I am usually not motivated to do anything whatsoever, I even have a hard time just getting out of my bed in the morning. That leads me to what I wish I would’ve done different, and that is switching the service schedule a little bit. If I were to redo this project, I would still do service for Mr. Flores, but come in for recess or after school, instead of the morning. I felt that I have grown and changed how I see things in life. I really began to enjoy doing service for various people and felt that I have also bonded with those people as well and that’s what made it so great.
“Success and nothing less.” That was my motivational motto I had selected. I really like this quote and thought it fit well with the service project theme. Throughout
For my service leaning assignment, I volunteered at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank receiving donations at the festival entrance. In volunteering at the event, I learned the differences in service learning, volunteerism and community service and will provide details in what I learned a about each. I will also provide details and examples of teamwork, communication and networking experiences gained while at the event. A brief overview of the Montgomery County Food bank will also be provided with information on the assignment task, measurable success and interaction with fellow students and organization directors.
The activities and events we host are always very fun and exciting. I have been a volunteer since my freshman year of high school, which is when they allow you to be a volunteer. Before that you may participate in the activities. I feel that this volunteer project does benefit both me and the recipients, because I get to experience such an amazing act of kindness that changes a person 's life forever. It also benefits the recipients, because they get to have their lives changed forever.
In fact, I have been performing community service since I was very young. In middle school, I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I made my service project the donation of snacks, toiletries, and other items purchased in grocery stores. I would collect supplies, packaged them, and ship them to Marines stationed overseas. This NJHS community service project was inspired by my membership in the Young
As well as how I cannot take things for granted because others are less fortunate and they do not even have the opportunities and amenities I am able to have. This gave me a new understanding of how others have to survive from day to day. From my first mission trip experience, I have gained a new understanding of how far your actions can go and how important it is to show care and compassion to others whether you know them or they are complete strangers. Danny Thomas once said, "Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others.
Learning a Life Lesson Reading A Long Way Gone, a book about child soldiers, in Sierra Leone during the 1990’s made me feel disgusted because of the treatment of the young children. Reading about the most disturbing sequence in life, dealing with children my age or under made me realize how much life means. I could not imagine ever going through anything that will determine my life well-being. This made me look forward to more in life and appreciate the life I do live, because everyone doesn't have it like I do.
I helped my community by organizing and managing my church's blessing box since it supplies my community food and other resources to people that are as not as fortunate. Finally, I helped my community by assisting with the Reading High School Alumni Yearly Banquet since it allowed the alumni to improve the core health of the community since they play a major part in my community in various ways. I also plan to do more community service to assist all of the different communities I am a part of, doing this will also help me
It has been been a goal of mine to attend the United States Naval Academy after visiting Annapolis with my grandparents in 2012. Since visiting the Naval Academy I knew that I wanted to serve America with the utmost honor and integrity. The Naval Academy Summer Seminar would give me the ability to hone my leadership skills and give me valuable experience that I could use as a Navy Midshipman and throughout life. This summer experience is an opportunity of a lifetime because it will allow me to understand and benefit from the mental and physical challenges the academy provides. Challenging myself at the Naval Academy Summer Seminar would be greatly beneficial for me because I will have the confidence and skills to make decisions
Ways in which I depict service include volunteering at the Brian Adams Benefit to help raise money for a cancer patient whose family is struggling, helping clean up the Shawnee United Methodist Church property by picking up trash and helping with landscaping, ringing the bell to raise money for the Salvation Army, packing and delivering food at the West Ohio Food Bank for families in need, along with helping prepare food for needy families who come and stay at the church. I feel it is important to try to help as much of the community as possible, which is why I also volunteer at the Humane Society of Allen County. Showing a respect for not only my own community, but communities around my own, is something I pride myself on. Today’s society needs as much positivity as possible, and I try to provide that by giving up my own time for the well being of
One service project I participated in was making goodie bags for the school
My education provides the foundation for my future. In order to ensure my success, I must also continue to engage in service projects. My involvement in community service with National Honor Society has kindled
This project taught me multiple life lessons. These lessons included concepts such as communication skills, detailed planning, leadership, and vital importance of keeping a commitment. My Eagle Scout Project has given me experiences, and vital practice with skills that most seventeen-year old’s do not receive until later in life. The project has helped me grow and mature as a person. Working through this project has provided me with experiences with managerial responsibilities that I can use later in my life.
Service does not have to be something extravagant, it can be a simple minute of helping a peer or neighbor do a task. Every act of kindness can make a difference in
Describe any service that you’ve done in the past year. If you could help any charitable/service organization, which would it be and why? * Service is an important aspect in my life. Whether it is donating your time, talent, or treasure, I believe that giving back is an important attribute in growing as an individual. Throughout my time in highschool and up onto this very day I continue my philanthropic work with the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.
Beneficiaries called to ask me if I wanted to perform community service at a cathedral in Dallas, TX. I agreed because I like to volunteer in any event when it is needed. This event was called “Feed the Hunger,” which I signed up for and looked forward to because of my desire to lend a hand and assist the needy and unfortunate. At first, I thought this event was just one of those other community service opportunities that I am usually called to facilitate and volunteer my time. However, in the end, this occasion was a life-changing experience.
Despite the many community service opportunities available, it was hard to find one that really resonated with me. Originally, I wanted to volunteer with the Inderkum Jr. Tiger (IJT) football program.
