Meijer has employees and customers at the heart of its core values as a company. Meijer believes that motivating its employees to increase productivity and morale. They do this because happy employees are easier to work with. They keep the well-oiled machine working in tiptop shape. On of the motivational techniques used by Meijer include celebrating the little things. Monthly they will celebrate birthdays, and employee achievements. They also motivate employees through the superior work conditions. However, one of the biggest motivators for Meijer employees is likely the employee discount that they are offered. There are annual meetings with the team members to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that the goals and team members are progressing. There is also a customer feedback/ suggestion box at customer service to give team members an idea of how the customers view their customer service and what they doing really with and what needs progress; constructive criticism is always helpful.

Meijer prides itself for being the first retail company to open a super center where customers can access virtually everything they might need. This was a major innovative achievement in the retail industry. One of the things that Meijer pioneered in this industry was working with local growers to provide the freshest products at a reduced cost due to the negotiability for the products and the reduced transportation costs for the much smaller distances that the products travel.

The company should continue with its current process of data automation and talent search. Automation of the data and other processes will contribute to the fast growth of the organization and contribute to efficient delivery of goods and services. Raw talent search and development will ensure a continuation of quality human resource available at the organization and hence consistency in service delivery and the general customer satisfaction.
