August Wilson is an award winning American playwright who portrays the African-American experience through ten plays. Throughout his play, Fences, he demonstrates a man, Troy, who is strongly opinionated. He is more concerned with his own feelings instead of others. He prevents his son from playing college football, cheats on his wife, and places his brother in a mental hospital. He does it all because it is best for himself.
Which explains why Jesse and Frank turned to lives of crime. His brother joined the war as a confederate soldier at an early age which was very common back then. Soon both of the became confederate sympathizers. Both Jesse and Frank joined William Quantrill’s Missouri guerrilla force, after they joined the group and jesse committed and participated in the devastation that killed twentyfive unarmed union soldiers in 1963.
They were able to relate to the one inch at a time proposition of pulling together to come out of the disarray the team was in. They were touched by his honesty and openness in the beginning of his speech, which was an attention getter, then intrigued by the challenge to sacrifice for the team and fight for the inches need to win and survive. The coach ended the speech with a summation of the team fighting for that inch together and then concluded with the question, “…now, what are you gonna do”. The inspired team then went on, played with their heart, and won the football game.
I really like the first play of the game. Callaway ran down the seam wide open. Grier missed it but I guarantee you he won 't miss those kinds of passes as he develops throughout the year. I like the fact that Coach McElwain is an aggressive offensive mind.

Michael Vick, known for his extraordinary talent as a quarterback, went from the star player for The Atlanta Falcons to owning the title of animal abuser. Law officials raided his Virginia home where dead and neglected pit pulls, in addition to dog fighting equipment were found. Over a period of six years, Vick and his accomplices fought pit bulls for a profit and executed several dogs that were deemed unfit to perform in those fights by means of drowning or hanging. Four months after the raid, Vick pled guilty to animal cruelty charges in August 2007 for his part in organizing the dogfighting ring, Bad Newz Kennels. After being sentenced, Vick delivered an apology that spoke of how disappointed he was in his actions and how they have affected those around him.

Bergh’s emotional accounts of the horrors inflicted on animals persuaded the New York State legislature to pass the contract incorporating the ASPCA on April 10, 1866. Nine days later, the first operative anti-cruelty law in the United States was approved, authorizing the ASPCA to examine grievances of animal cruelty and to make arrests. Bergh became accustomed sight on the streets and in the courtrooms of New York. He repeatedly examined slaughter houses, participated with police to shut down dog- and rat-fighting pits and lectured in schools and to adult societies. In 1867, the ASPCA recognized and functioned the nation’s first ambulance for horses.
Currently, Australia is the largest exporter of livestock in the world, with exports providing a valuable market for Australia’s livestock producers. They’re a number of challenges that exporters face such as travelling long distances between Australia and the importing countries. These challenges pose significant and unavoidable risks to the health & welfare of the exported animal if the risks aren’t properly managed. (Australian Position Statement on the Export of Livestock, 2006) Recently there have been lots of controversies surrounding the exporting industry in regards to the export of live animals.
More than 650 million animals are slaughtered for food in Canada, every year, most of them poultry. Most Canadians think the government ensures the humane treatment of farm animals and when told that that’s not the case they are shocked to discover the lack of monitoring of farms across the country. Canada doesn't have regulations on how animals should be treated on farms other than federal and provincial animal cruelty laws. These laws are only used to prosecute livestock producers in cases of rare and egregious abuse, such as when animals are neglected to the point of starvation.
The SPCA stands for society for the prevention of cruelty to animals, their goal is to just animals all over the United States. They do many things to help all kinds of animals but the biggest thing that they do is rescue them from cruel owners or terrible living conditions. This organization is a government funded program that is expanding more and more every year. It is the largest humane society in the world and are now starting to go international into more countries like Brazil. They deal with any kind of animal that they may encounter including exotic animals.
