With what has been happening in our country lately, I’m not sure how our future will end up like. If my hopes would happen, though, I feel like it would help make our country better as a whole and as individuals.
My first hope I have for America 's future is kids that are put up for adoption not costing so much. Right now, the average a kid can cost to get adopted is $40,000 and as long as 2-7 years for the adoption to happen. (1) Not only that, but thousands of children all the way from infants to 18 years old are up for adoption. (2) I would also like for these children to be able to have better facilities. I have heard of places where kids would stay that have not been good. The adults who would also take care of these kids would treat them horrible. If children aren’t able to be or do not get adopted, at least they would have a good place to stay. I believe that by seeing a reduced cost, more children would be adopted and would be able to get a good home.

Altogether, there are about 1.6 billion people without homes, (3) 3.5 million homeless every night, (4) and 1.35 million of those are children. (5) Even though people are homeless, I would also like to see more people helping them out. Seeing homeless people on the street makes me sad, but you also do not know if they are faking being homeless or not. I would also like them being able to have a chance to work to earn some money so they can get back up on their feet. Places like Springfield, though, have had police warn against giving money to them. Instead, they urge people giving them a place to stay or giving them food to eat that way they don’t use the money for bad. By doing these things, I believe that more homeless people will be given
This is one of those problems that instead of finding solutions for, most people are “sweeping this problem under the rug” and finding “quick fixes”. The homeless population will continue to be victimized unless we change our attitude towards homeless people. We need to view them as fellow human beings who deserve a place in society. I think you made a great point by saying that “understanding the reasons behind them being homeless” because, in my opinion, that is one the biggest problems. We do not care enough or understand their situation; it is a lot simpler to blame poverty and homelessness on poor people.
There’s reasoning behind that bold statement too. The reason why it’s not ideal to hand homeless people money is because you never know what that person is going to spend it on. They might have a sign saying that they are hungry and need money for food, clothing, or some other necessity but just because they say that on their sign doesn’t mean that’s what they actually want the money for. They possibly will spend the hard earned money on alcohol, or drugs. Those are two thing majority of people don’t want their hard earned money to go to.
I believe that foster care system should be changed for the better of the child only because i know that most kids started off with a bad life and to top it off they have to be in a foster home and most disagreeable kids can just go to a juvenile detention center if not adopted. But really not a lot of things should change like when they do background checks it is most likely very necessary because you don 't want to put a miserable kid with it 's like fighting fire with fire it 's not good for either of them. But somewhat the system should also be changed because if you take in a misbehaving kid and just put them in juvenile detention center it won 't help them be off and to a better start it very confidence breaking the kids deserve
Foster kids can spend their entire adolescent years in a hospital. Regardless of how inhumane their imprisonment is the state’s priorities when it comes to financially supporting these children is repulsive. While the state does technically provide money for foster kids in college, only 3% of foster kids will receive a degree due to incompetent education provided by the state and not being allowed to focus on school. Money is only spent to oppress and belittle the kids instead of raise
America is the biggest sponsor of this idea. While many politicians talk of ‘the children are our future,’ nobody seems to act like it. Children are abused. Children are traumatized. Children are seen as a number, a statistic, rather than the name of what they are; Children.
In order to stop homelessness we need to lower the pricing on housing. We can also make sure that the homeless can get a sustainable job and have enough money to buy a home, and keep the home, as well as buy food and clothing. (Fischer). There are many federal public housing programs for the homeless and they are one of the best programs. Federal hous vouchers allow low income makers to afford their houses as well which helps the homeless keep their
The amount of homeless people in Oklahoma City is unacceptable and must be fixed. The city should do more to help people that are homeless get back on their feet, because no one should have to live on the streets and feel like a second-class citizen. The homeless shelters are constantly bombarded with hundreds of hungry and hopeless people every night, and seeing people laying around and constantly asking others for money can make people feel uncomfortable and has been a sore sight for Oklahoma City for a long time. No one should have to live on the streets, it is inhumane, even though people make bad decisions that greatly affect their lives they should be given a second chance.
In conclusion, when I was coming up, we did not know much about people being homeless. When I left home for college, I learned more about homeless people. I have a heart for people and I do not desire to see people suffer if I can help it. If a homeless person asks me for money, I will give it to them or go and buy them some food when I have the funds to do so. This is the reason that I want to get a grant that can help individuals get off the
Respect the homeless as individuals - Give the homeless people the same courtesy and respect you would accord your friends, your family, your employer. Treat them as you would wish to be treated if you needed assistance.” (justgive.org, sec. 1) This is what America needs, education. The monetary part of homeless is not the main issue, it’s the education that lacks,
Raising money to lower homelessness in America would not necessarily be a problem if people took it seriously. Homelessness is often overlooked due to the outstanding amount of money it would take to help the homeless. Though it would probably take a few years, getting the money to help them is possible. Another problem American may face as we help assist the homeless is that we do not know how to help them in the meantime.
One of the biggest issues facing this great nations citizens and even some of our war hero veterans, is that of being homeless. As well as residing in poor income housing and very poor conditions. With the number of homes and land available throughout the country, and the majority of it being owned by private interest and banks is an outrage. If we do not deal with homelessness and poverty, we may end up like Detroit, Michigan.
A constant cause of homelessness is alcohol and drug abuse, a study done in 1989 revealed that 33-38 percent of homeless are alcoholic and 13-15 percent are drug abusers with those percentages rising throughout the years (Parsell.) There is a distinction between enabling and helping. When one helps another, they are doing something which the other individual can not do on their own, where as enabling one is to do something for the individual which they can do on their own. So instead of aiding the homeless feed some of the addictions by giving the money that they can use to buy their addiction and that lead them to the situation they find themselves in, upper class Americans should manage their money for the welfare of the lower class, just as parents disburse their money for the benefit of the children without actually allowing the kids get their hands on the
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
last time I saw a homeless man asking me for money, and I would ask myself weather to give him money, but then I would not know what he would use it for, maybe he would spend it on alcohol, cigar, or even drugs. so instead of giving him money, I bought him food and water. Yes, there are homeless people that take your money and go back to alcoholism and drugs, and it makes no improvement to our society, especially
If we give them money they will just buy drugs and bad things”. I’m sure that there are some homeless people who love the Lord and want to start over. They need to find a place where they can get money so they can “get back up again” as said by Tobymac.
