In my Avid class we have been doing the quizzes that determine what we understand, find confusing, and our personality. By doing this we have found what we are good at and how we will succeed. Since this is my first year of high school, I can apply my strengths into my systems to have a postitive result. I have three systems: school (#1), home (#2), and sports (#3).
I’m a hard-working and motivated person, because I believe that with enough practice anyone can be good at anything. As someone who is born in a collective culture, I’m harmonious and I actively seek to promote harmony and peace in groups and individuals. Because of my harmonious nature, I try to be friendly and kind to people, especially to those that feel left out. Therefore, I’m able to get along well with people while working in groups. In addition, I’m self-critical, therefore, I’m good at knowing my weaknesses and what I’m lacking.
During this semester, I gained a lot of skills and knowledge about interpersonal relations. As a human being, as a member of the "global village", everyone need to communicate with others. It is important to learn how to communicate well and how to build a healthy and positive interpersonal relationship with others. Like the textbook’ name “Looking Out Looking In”, we looked in the communication itself, looked out the language barrier, nonverbal messages and effective listening, and looked at relational dynamics. I learned and recognized about how environmental factors can impact our communication.
You need to know what you are doing fully in these situations. The seventh is to be spontaneous, which means to constantly being motivating everyone and building them up. The eigth is to have a good attitude about the company and to never be negative. If you lead people you have to be good with everyone never get nasty with them. The ninth is to have emotional intelligence, which means to make sure you are able to feel for others in situations.
Likewise, give credit to where credit is due. The last thing I’d like to address is being approachable. If we can listen to each other and support each other, we can accomplish so much more. Treat others with dignity and respect and remember that we are one team.
Last but not least try being the best worker you can be and everything else should fall into
I’m a senior in high school, which means the next thing big milestone is heading my way; graduation. After graduation I’m expected to go to college, and I am planning on going, but am I ready? Probably or I might be thinking to highly of myself. There’s something called soft skills that I need to feel extra prepared for college and I do believe I have most of them. And there’s something called grit, and I also believe I have some of this.
Build on your weaknesses - Take on one stretch target in an area you need to develop. Ask a team member competent in this area to help you. Remember to return the favour. To lead, know that it is ALL your responsibility - Once you have achieved the last two, think of the entire goal as your responsibility.
