People often find the need to seek the meaning of life. They feel as though there has to be more to life or that they are blinded to something vital in the grand scheme of things. Different people use different means, some go on grand journeys hoping to find some sort of wisdom in their experience. This is where we find a parallel in the lives of Chris McCandless and Siddhartha, the main characters of Into the wild by Jon Krakauer and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. In both stories the main character lives a well off life but becomes dissatisfied by societal conventions.
I also realized with this book that I have been spending a lot of time complaining about my problems, and when I complain about some problem nothing changes, but if I use that time working hard to accomplish my goal, I could get
Right now I have goals, goals that I sometime doubt that I can achieve. Sure, I say that I will go through with everything I set up for myself but I feel that I will reach a point where I am too tired and fed up to continue to the end and give up. That’s something I don’t want to happen to me. Reading this book helped me remember that things like certificates, diplomas, money, wealth, etc. will not be handed down to me. I need to work for what I want, it will not be easy, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.
The Mindset “Although people may differ in every which way- in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments- everyone can change and grow through application and experience.” Do the people that an individual is surrounded by have an impact on someone developing a growth mindset? For years people have been wondering why people think and act differently from each other. In the article “The Mindsets,” Carol Dweck talks about two different types of mindsets that she has studied for thirty years.
Like Wright, books have changed my own perspective on life. In this course, reading Man’s Search For Meaning, inspired me to believe that I can overcome odds, and made me realize how important the people in my life are and how precious every moment is. Reading Outliers changed my perspective on success and has encouraged me to consider everyday as a new opportunity to make a
Ten years seems like a long way away from now. However, I have put a lot of thought into where I want to be. In Ten years my goals aren’t super complicated and I plan on having them happen. In the time span of ten years I plan to be through medical school.
Carol Dweck, the author of the book entitled “Mindset”, did a great job of portraying her inquisitive thoughts throughout the book. Also, the book was informative and made me wonder about my “mindset” and my life in the future. Dweck, throughout the book, explains that mindsets start early as a child and perseveres into adulthood. She explains that this mindset can drive many aspects of our lives going from parenting and being in relationships to sports, school, and work. Most of the book which stands out to me, is the author’s encouragement to her readers, that anyone can change their mindset at any time, age, or state of mind in their life.
The life lessons that can be learned from this book will inspire the reader to go out and push the limits of what they thought was
"I am stronger inside and out and have gotten past fears that none of the medicines I 've taken could conquer" (Patterson and Friedman pg. 212). In my life, there are many goals that I have not reached because of my lack of determination. This book has given me determination to reach my goals because if Cory did it, I can too. Who am I to not try to make myself the best human being I can be. This book has been my change and I now have a greater

I am currently in the process of figuring out what is next in my life. I do know I want to provide a successful future while I am able to. Ten years from now I would like to have already graduated college and made up my mind whether I want to go into medicine or not. If I chose not to get into medicine I would like to have married my beloved boyfriend that we are currently 4 years in. I would like to have form a family also; at least two or three kids to raise.
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
In the next ten years I hope that I’m very well educated and wealthy and rich. I hope that I graduated with honors from Uh manoa if I see the day. I see myself enjoying the major that I chose as a profession to work in. One day I would like to open my own restaurant and work until it takes off. Then the next ten years I hope to accomplish a lot of more things.
