The digital revolution has made everything more convenient for the children of today's society. However, kids now are spending the time they could be reading on the internet, which has done almost everything except help their minds to grow in the way that minds did in the past. Naturally, if our literacy rates do not increase, we will end up in a similar literacy issue as Mexico is in now. This is explained in his article, “The Country That Stopped Reading,” the author, David Toscana, claims that the value of reading is so much more than Mexico makes it out to be. Mexico is crumbling due to the fact that the majority of the country is illiterate.
Very few people found physical planners useful. Yet several took the initiative to begin the use of an electronic planner. I was one of those students. The planner I found was particularly useful as I could sync it with a number of other devices. This planner helped my academic grade immensely, however, cell phones are a recurring issue among school administrators.
Technology is becoming a very important aspect in college. With a high number of classes requiring online homework, the connection should be up to standard. Most classes require online work to be done and due at a certain time. Since technology is an important aspect in college, you would think that universities would have high quality internet connection or Wi-Fi. This is not the case.
Often times I ask myself why I even come to school? Does our education system actually help us learn, or is it mere memorization of facts. I’ve come to this realization where “not-so-hard-working” students can obtain greater rewards than students who are more diligent. Most papers today are not original. With many open sources such as SparkNotes, Wikipedia, and Google, hardly anything that students create requires much effort.
Where I feel that I have learned the most and grown the most was the time that I spend in Excel. While I was not all together new to Excel, I did not know how to use a lot of the features in Excel. Some of the things that I have learned was how to make equations and use the Auto Sum feature. I also learned how to make my workbooks and charts look professional and interesting at the same time. I do feel that my skills have grown and that I have learned a lot during this course.
7 Bad Writing Habits You Learned in School A school is considered to be the place where we acquire proper habits that help us during the whole our life. However, these habits are not always good especially when we are talking about writing. The matter is that writing is a rather special ability that has been common to each of us, however, not everyone is capable of telling that writing is really something they can do perfectly. Being a school kid, we discover only some basic principles of efficient writing such as the mechanical process of writing, basic abilities to present the ideas on paper, and key ideas for an understanding of style. In college, we start to understand that this knowledge is not enough as to write flawlessly, you need to know more than just the structure of the essay and the ways to use resources in your writing.
Technology has taken on a considerable amount of roles in education. Teaching a class substituting laptops and tablets for paper and books. Most people extol the ability of using technology while in school. However, the widespread use of information technologies force students’ lives to move too quickly and forces them into isolation. Technology has the world living longer and thinking shorter.
Literacy. What does it mean, where did it come from, who is defined by it, and what does it define? Literacy is not just a word, it’s more or less a way of life. In todays world we have defined literate as a person who can read, and write, but to me it goes far more than that. Like many who can say they are literate, they went to school again like me.
All mentioned above point to the fact that the process of problem-solving in the 21st century is closely linked to engineering and technology, and particularly requires competencies related to computer science (CS). It seems that many teachers do not integrate ideas of computer science much beyond the pure use of computers as a tool in current STEM education (Schulz & Pinkwart, 2015). In too many schools, science and math are still taught mostly in isolation from each other, and engineering is absent. To be sure, in a growing number of high schools (in the USA) and even some middle schools, a pre-engineering curriculum is becoming more common. But more often than not, these engineering courses are offered as electives without strong connections to core courses like physics, algebra, geometry,
