The whistle screeches and everyone is off; trying to gain the prized possession: the football. It 's a battle of skill, tricks, teamwork and daring. It’s only five minutes in and the other team has the ball. The other team are passing it around us, weaving in and out, heading right for our goal preparing to strike. We only have a matter of seconds to regroup before we are down 0-1. It’s a goal. Sadly for us, we lost that battle. With our heads down, we get ready for the next one to come.
Weekend football matches are taken as seriously as if they are professional football. On the field are 11 mighty players, empowering each other to continue to play the sport they love. The team is joined together by their supporters, mainly family and friends,

I sprint after her having to use the extra boost of energy I 'd been saving to even my chances of catching up with them. Encouraging and cheering me on are my supporters, giving me the boost I need. Increasing my speed I start to gain on them pushing myself to my limit. Soon we are touching shoulders, pushing for dominance over the ball. Then everything slows. I get one foot ahead. Using my chance I smash the ball well clear of the goal. Screaming and cheering wildly are my teams supporters at the brilliance of my play. Finally safe from the attackers, I slow down huffing and puffing trying to catch my breath, while I smile knowing this slight victory was mine.
Participating in sport as a woman got me thinking about how sport for women has evolved tremendously. We weren’t even allowed to participate, spectate as women where the housekeepers but now we are able to compete as the best all over the world in any and every sport possible. If we look back to when women first were able to play a sport we are able to see the beauty in social evolution as this step takes us one step closer to equality for
The score is now 3-1, the crowd roars energizing us to play football unlike any other. People stare in disbelief. With an extraordinary kick, the ball is flung pass the keeper into the top corner of the goal. Our goalie saving the impossible as the other team fights for redemption. Football is something special that only the players and the spectator's
It seemed like every other Sunday in every other soccer tournament I had ever played. I play on the U-16 Shock Black team. We are a Division 1 competitive team. We were playing at Katy Park in Houston, and it was early evening and cold for February. I went through the motions with my team through warm up and kick off.
It took me a second to realize they were waiting for me. They were, for once, looking at me to call a play. I glance up at the clock, it holds at few minutes left, but I see the score and the other team is only down a few points. I quickly think of one of our plays, “Let’s run silver,” I say, “make sure to keep the ball moving and press on defense.” We break from our huddle and get into our positions.
The clock is now down to 3:00 minutes and coach subs me into the game. I immediately run onto the field and spot my team on a fast break with two defenders on his tail. I’m just able to catch up to one of the trailing defenders and lower my shoulder into his side and knock him over. The sound resonates like a drum and he falls to the ground allowing my teammate to
They are concentrating on the amicable competitiveness that team rivalries allow, creating fun contests for viewers. Not only is football good for the viewer, it is highly effective as a way to teach the youth, adolescents and young adults are taught valuable lessons that can be applied to any profession, regardless of physicality. These lessons are in subjects of legitimate necessity, such as persistence, teamwork, and conscientiousness, all of which should not be denied the ability to reach
Football can serve as a route to success and opportunity for the young players. They can use it to escape poverty and gain admission to prestigious colleges and universities. “Football was their only hope, their only way out of the desolate oil fields, their means of escaping poverty” (23). Football is a platform for players to show their talent, and for others to recognize it. It can open opportunities that would otherwise be unreachable.
It’s a Thursday night and the girls volleyball team has a game. All the girls are super excited and tell everyone they encounter, “Don’t forget, volleyball game tonight at 6pm sharp!” The gym is all decorated and has streamers hanging from everywhere. The time has come for the game to start and the audience is made up of parents and siblings. A few friends of players are scattered around the stands, but the majority of our fans are parents.
Little did they know women all around the world formed a women rights movement in the late 1920’s. Women wanted to prove themselves with their protest and riots they started. It was not until the “1960’s and ’70s [women] sought equal rights and opportunities and greater personal freedom for women”, (BRITANNICA). The topic about athletic competition and how men did not find it ladylike was dropped and women were able to compete.
And I thought to myself “oh my god” because at the time, I was like 4 foot 7, and they were like 5 foot 2. I ran as fast as I could, to the end zone and I scored, and everyone went bananas, my whole team came dashing over to me, giving me high fives and shoulder bumps. But I just stood there silently, smiled, and thought to myself “Thanks
I notice one of my teammates Sebastian scoring and the whole team starts celebrating. As five more minutes pass and finally remember hearing the final whistle and I see everyone celebrating as we have won the championship. As we were done celebrating and packing our stuff we went in a room where I could see the big
So why is there still debate about gender equality in sport? Women and men compete in separate events in all sporting disciplines apart from Equestrian competitions and in mixed doubles teams in Badminton, Tennis and Ice Skating. My essay will look at the different arguments around whether or not women and men should be allowed to compete together in sport. One of the most compelling arguments for why women and men should be allowed to compete against each other is that in today’s society in which women and men are equal and can do the same things, they should be given the same opportunities in sport.
I was ready to play soccer with my team during PE and dashed right out the locker rooms. I was ready to hear Mr. Orluck’s loud voice to tell us to go to the soccer field so that I could bolt out to there and get to talk to all my friends. My heart was rushing and my legs were shaking with excitement to run to be the goalie of my team. I went and gave my attention back to Mr. Orluck to give us the signal to go straight out there. “Let’s go!
I 'd always tried getting all the goals. I also Tried taking all the freekicks and penalties. One day in a game I had the ball with only one defender on me, so I try to get passed him by running round him as fast as I could with the wind blowing on my face and my jersey flying back and I see a player open nobody on him. At first I

Powerful is a great word for football because it means something to the sport. Powerful shows children that there is not an ending for them without backing down from a tackle.
