Rikki-Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a fable where animals have anthropomorphic traits. The author describes the act of courage when Rikki-Tikki fights the cobras. Rudyard Kipling shows Rikki-Tikki's courage when, " Rikki-Tikki knew better than to waste time in starring. He jumped up in the air as high as he could go, and just under him whizzed by the head of Nagaina, Nags wicked wife." This shows that Rikki is smart and not afraid of of a fight.
In the novel the Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, there is often parallels between what occurs in the novel and the history and culture of the lands at the time. Often symbols directly parallel the past colonial history of the Congo. The novel highlights the rise and fall of the nation, as well as the impacts of more powerful nations on the ultimate destiny of the Congo. Through the novel, animals are utilized to represent animals present in Congo as parallels for nations. The novel depicts a nation raised, a nation betrayed. A nation’s ideals, a nation’s disappointingly weak reality. It depicts the complexities of the 1960’s in the former Belgian Congo.

Courage is a word that has many examples and has a well rounded definition. One may say it is the ability to face one's fear, although some may say it is just a trait the greatest heros carry in their “tool belt.” According to the dictionary it means “the ability to do something that frightens one,” or “strength in the face of pain or grief.” In the movie Finding Forrester the main characters Jamal Wallace and Will Forrester create an unlikely friendship after Jamal breaks into Will’s apartment, in which he leaves his backpack. Leading to Will discovering Jamal’s love of writing, which is the foundation of their friendship. They, like all, have their ups and downs, their joys and fears. These all come to light as their relationship blooms.
At least once in their life, people make a decision, and grow to eventually regret what they have done and reflect on what could have been done instead. In the passage “The Rattler” the speaker recalls the time when he crosses paths with a snake and has to debate whether to kill the snake. The author invites the reader to feel empathy for the man and sympathy for the snake using the point of view of the man, attitude of the snake, and descriptions of the setting.
Nelson Mandela said, “...that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear” (Greenberg). This perfectly describes one of the themes from Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Most of the characters sometime in the book need to discover their inner courage to face fear or opposition. However, one figure stands out from all the rest of the characters. Arthur ‘Boo’ Radley is the most courageous of all characters in Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, because he faced the world, even though he is the timidest and thus the most secretive of the characters.
Humans often kill powerful animals for interacting with humans in a seemingly dangerous way. Is their murder justifiable? One can answer this question for themselves through the short story The Rattler, in which the author presents the contrasting views of a rational man that must kill an innocent snake The snake is not willing to die without a fight, and the man is not willing to let his duties go unfulfilled.
Rikki is the main character in the story. In the story it shows that Rikki is a brave mongoose who fight snakes. In the story it quotes “the great war that Rikki-tikki-tavi fought single-handed”. If Rikki fought a war single handedly he is truly a brave mongoose. Rikki-tikki fought the snakes that everyone feared. Both of these statements prove that Rikki-tikki is brave.
Rikki is a brave character in this story. As proof, it is the hardest thing to frighten a mongoose, because he is eaten up from head to tail with curiosity (para. 7). As a result, this proves Rikki is a brave character. Since Rikki is brave it helps him in tough situations which gives him confidence. In addition, he was afraid for a minute, but it is impossible for a mongoose to stay frightened for any length of time (para. 24). This displays, bravery because it states that he only frightened for a moment. Rikki is one of the bravest characters in the story because he fights all of the large animals that frighten everybody else. This proves that, bravery is the main character trait of Rikki.

This personification proves the theme brave because Nag is face to face with a mongoose.
