Alexander tortured many of his victims and then he killed them. Another reason why he was a villain because he killed members of his family so that he would become the ultimate successor to the throne. This should never be how a king becomes the ruler of his kingdom, ever. Even though I believe that Alexander the Great is a villain, others may think he was a hero. They may think that because he had conquered so many other nations.
Columbus Day is celebrated in recognition of Columbus “discovering” America in 1492. Many consider him a hero for that one reason but don’t acknowledge what he did when he first reached America. I personally believe Columbus is not worthy of being called a hero for various reasons. One of the reasons is that Columbus killed millions of native Americans because of his lust for gold. The native Americans were kind and generous towards Columbus and his men, but he enslaved them and forced them to do his dirty work for him.
The taxes the colonies had to pay agreed the colonies, so they decided to surround the british. British soldiers didn 't understand what was happening and panicked and they fired at the crowed of colonies surrounding them. They ended up killing five of the colonies. One of the colonies that died was Crispus Attucks. He was a runaway slave He died defending the colonies this event helped start rebellion in the colonies.
The demigod son of Zeus himself, Herakles would have to endure and complete eight labors to atone for killing his wife and children. Much did Heracles suffer during this time, killing his own wife and children after being driven mad by Zeus’s wife Hera out of spite. Herakles story is relatable to the struggles of man, more so the other Gods in the sense that Pathos is personified throughout his story. Even at the bitter end, Herakles is betrayed through trickery that ends with his demise. It was unlike any of the ancient civilizations to portray a God as having human or mortal essence.
Other historians claim that Montezuma welcomed Cortes to the city from a position of strength and the gifts offered were a demonstration of power. Outnumbered and fearful of being overrun, Hernan Cortes captured and imprisoned Montezuma in 1520. Cuitlahuac to took over as Emperor retaliated. He led an offensive that drove the Spaniards out Tenochtitlan, Montezuma was killed during the revolt. Deadly small pox brought aboard by the Spanish, severely degraded the Aztec population killing thousands including Cuitlahuac.
They had to send a petition to the government of France asking to receive citizenship and as a result of this, mixed race people began to get attacked and murdered by white people. This stood out as even when simply asking for citizenship and basic rights, free Black and mixed race people still got attacked. The next scene that stood out was at around 18:46 where the documentary talked about slaves rebelling against their masters. The slaves poisoned, stabbed, and ultimately killed their masters. This scene stood out since I found it incredible how the amount of slaves rebelling grew from one thousand to twenty thousand in order to retaliate with the same amount of violence that the masters used on them.
The first major persecution of Christians officially sanctioned by a roman emperor began during the reign of Nero in 64 AD. At this time Rome had almost been completely destroyed by a fire and the people of Rome were placing the blame on Nero. In order to attempt to shift the blame away from himself Nero accused the Christians of starting the fire. This began the first large scale persecution of the Christians. Not only did Nero hunt Christians down for execution, but he also tortured them for his enjoyment.
The natives were seen as “well-built people” but did not have the education to be compared to the advanced Spaniards (2). The “Spanish tortured, maimed, raped, slaughtered, and burned” the Natives in search of gold (2). It was very common for the Spanish to be extremely harsh as they had one goal in mind witch was greed. They would torcher children, hang people, and even have dogs brutally attack them. Ferdinand and Isabella sought after power and declared themselves rulers of the natives and all that apposed were enslaved, torched, than killed.
He and his people brought diseases with them and killed many of the natives. In the 1700’s many other explorers from Great Britain, France and Spain started arriving and treated the Muscogee people brutally for their land and goods. Even though to keep the peace, the Creeks bartered with them, the explorers were so greedy they wanted everything they had. In 1715, the Yamasee war began against the cheating British traders who captured Indians for enslavement (Treuer and etc.). This caused an eruption in the Creek people and they divided into two groups, The Upper Creek and the Lower
Chandler recalls the first battle with the Piute Indian war in 1860, he also recalls the Indians running away from him. The Indians feared the newcomers because they were invading their homes for materials, which they just, did not have knowledge. During this period, it is justified why the Indians escalated conflict with the Anglos; they were exterminated, relocated, and enslaved. The newcomers killed many Indians in the process to become wealthy, by exposing diseases such as the yellow fever, small
Many found the law to be unjust and refused to obey it(pg.11-13). Abraham Lincoln stated "A House Divided Against Itself Will Not Stand." 1855 Stephen Douglas won the senate seat against Abraham Lincoln(pg.16-20). On October 16, 1859 JOHN Brown with 21 men attacked the federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry Virginia. He was going to try to arm as many slaves as he could.
Therefor, Alexander followed up on that plan and conquered Persia. But for the other lands, they were conquered for the reason of trying to be the best and conquer the most lands. Alexander ended up killing about anyone who got in his way, which totals up to 250,000 killed people in his lifetime. This makes him a villain because more than half the people that were killed, were completely innocent and didn’t deserve to be
“Subsequent diplomatic failures to resolve the Maine matter, coupled with United States indignation over Spain’s brutal suppression of the Cuban rebellion and continued losses to American investment, led to the outbreak of the Spanish-American War in April 1898” (History 1). They were justified in doing this because many people were killed, it caused problems not just with them, but with families and it affected the country. “…killing 260 of the fewer than 400 American crew members aboard” (History 1). This took away opportunity for 260
The assassination of Osama Bin Laden occurred due to cultural reason; however, it was justified. Osama Bin Laden discriminated against americans, he caused one of the most horrific terrorist attack in american history which is 911 and he killed up to 2977 people in one day. Critics, however, some may argue that the assassination was unjustified, due to the Persian Gulf war also known as Operation Desert Shield where american troops invaded Saudi Arabia and killed over a 1000 civilians and injured even more this is a valid reason why Osama Bin Laden would have a vendetta against the american nation. The assassination of Osama Bin Laden occurred on May 2, 2011 over ballistic trauma which is a gunshot wound to the head in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
