What Role Does Grammar Play In Sister's Woman

345 Words2 Pages
Grammar plays an important role in Sister’s Flower essay. Since the beginning of the essay, it is evident that Marguerite had some type of post-traumatic stress disorder caused by being raped. This prevented her from interacting with people. As a coping mechanism, I think she decided to take a vow of silence; but chances are, the traumatic experience caused her to become shy and secluded from strangers. Instead, I think Marguerite found a safe heaven in writing. As Sister Flowers says in paragraph 21, “I hear you’re doing very good school work, Marguerite, but that it’s all written. The teachers report that they have trouble getting you to talk in class.”

It is also safe to assume that Marguerite is described in the essay as a literate person.
