Buying decorations was always fun picking out the most colorful streamers and the most bizarre Thanksgiving stuff ever. Deciding what food to get for everyone was also always fun too we chose many different sides such as mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, stuffing and much much more. When it came to choosing the main dish though there wasn't even a thought about anything else besides turkey. On the short drive home everyone's spirits were incredibly high ,but mine would soon be crushed.
Thanksgiving is a day of rest, not a day of fighting and going to stores. Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrating how the Pilgrims invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season. Thanksgiving should be a day of rest and giving thanks. A day to spend time with your family and friends.
Some people attend parties, feasts, or even carnivals for Thanksgiving. On the other hand, I am kind of different. I love to spend time with my family making arts and crafts. My mom usually makes a feast at home and cooks my favorite Indian dishes. My parents, my sister and I find some type of entertainment to get our family to spend time together. I text my friends who are in different states and I spend some time with them on Facetime too.
Thanksgiving is an overabundance of all senses. Whether it’s the smell and taste of the food, or the emotions after not seeing a certain family member for so long. During Thanksgiving there is an immense amount of sensory
I think that Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time to get together and share what you have done over the year and eat a bunch of food.We always adorn the house on Thanksgiving.I also think we get together because the Pilgrims and Indians got together.Thanksgiving is a time to feast and watch football games and spend time with your family. If it is not to cold out we usually play football with my cousins or uncles.
Thanksgiving is a celebration in which families partake in merriment and festivities, all the while feasting on enough turkey to make my stomach lurch. That wouldn’t be the case for me, however. On November 20th, 2015, I was seated in the back of a 2014 Chevy Malibu, twiddling earbuds between my quivering fingers to occupy my brain. For the first time, I would be meeting my boyfriend, Nick’s, entire family, and I was desperate to make a good first impression. What I didn’t know then was that family can be anyone, and an extended one would be eight hours away, preparing to embrace me with open arms.
One thing that some families do that is similar is eat common Thanksgiving foods. Most families eat turkey as their main course of the Thanksgiving meal. They also have traditional foods like potatoes , green beans and lots of pies. Many families play games during the day too like football, soccer, video games or listen to Christmas music.
As a child growing up, our parents taught us many fictional characters and myths. For example, Santa Calsus, the Easter Bunny, and the myth behind the tooth fairy. Theses thoughts or “tales” are placed in our head so as children, we have the idea of a perfect happy world. In elementary school, I was taught that thanksgiving was simply a time to stuff your face with turkey. As a grew a bit older thanksgiving was expounded and I learned that the first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in Plymouth by Pilgrims and Native Americans, and this information was still incorrect.
In 1621 November 24, Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag indians shared a feast in Autumn for the celebration in the colonies. For about 2 centuries America has celebrated Thanksgiving. It is a holiday for everyone to give thanks and the pilgrims.

The house is hustling and bustling with happiness and excitement. The cousins are in town and Grandma is more than happy to feed the grandchildren homemade hot chocolate to warm us up from the chilly weather. Before my Dad leads us in prayer, we go around the table and each person tells everyone three specific things they are thankful for. To give us more time to think creatively my mom will sometimes cut out paper leaves. Each person writes what they are thankful for on the leaf and she sticks it to a paper tree on the wall. Doing this gets everyone into a happy mood because we think about everything we have been blessed with. In 1621, the first thanksgiving held was a day dedicated to giving thanks to God for the colony's successful harvest. Unlike many other holidays such as Christmas whose original meaning society seems to have forgotten about, Thanksgiving in America is still about sharing and giving thanks. Food pantries seem to become more popular and many of us take time to thank God for all we have been blessed with.
Martha looked at the myth of Thanksgiving. The idea that an entire family would happily get together for a huge meal. The family will think and talk about everything that they are thankful for. This is heavily discussed in elementary schools. As a child I remember my teacher suggesting that at dinner we should go around the table and have each family member say something that they are thankful for. Much to my disappointment this never happened at my Thanksgiving dinner. This myth made me wonder how the children who's Thanksgiving did not look even close to the myth. Growing up I always had the basic parts of Thanksgiving, Turkey, parade, and family to celebrate with. I wonder how those children who live in poverty or without family feel about
